Bodee
Has it been established that he asked to leave? I thought he only said he would waive his NTC if asked, for the benefit of the team. I then read somewhere that MG doesn't believe in asking players to do that. I am confused. Personally I would rather keep Lu. However I do believe we should go with whatever brings the Club the most back in return. (If we stick with Corey in that instance I hope whoever has made that decision has got it right as I'm not convinced) If Lu goes, and he hasn't asked to go, I have every confidence Vancouver Canucks will do what is right, no matter what we on here think. Real deal - Stan Smyl
Other: After the treatment Lu got here from both the fans and Gillis, I'd say that the best honor for him would be to hoist the cup in Tampa or Toronto and go into the hhof as a Lightning or Leaf. You go Lu!!

TheCammer
Like others, I'm a life-long Canucks fan. As such, when I think of players who've given extra-special service to this team, players who deserve an 'honor' of some type I think of guys like Smyl, Snepsts, Ohlund, Linden (of course), Brodeur, Naslund, McLean and numerous others....I just don't put Luongo in that category (despite his numbers which are great - but IMO great because he played for a powerhouse team). TheCammer
I'm actually surprised at how many think his number should be retired. Not disappointed really, but considering how much he was bashed upon, I expected most people to say that he didn't deserve anything.
Heretic
The problem with "Jersey Retirement" is another great goalie of the Canucks had the same number - Kirk McLean.

Heretic
They could do a sort of 'duo' retirement. I know Montreal's done that before.
