[Off-Season] Forward Rfa

Recommended Posts

I am curious what people think about signing a young RFA forward to an offer sheet.

AND what would you offer then for value and term.

Potential targets.

Winnipeg

Evander Kane

Saint Louis

David Perron

TJ Oshie

Chris Stewart

Dallas

Jamie Benn

RFA compensation

The criteria for RFA draft pick compensation in 2011-12 is as follows:

  • $1,034,249 annual cap hit or less: No compensation

  • $1,034,249 — $1,567,043: Third-round pick

  • $1,567,043 — $3,134,088: Second-round pick

  • $3,134,088 — $4,701,131: First and third-round pick

  • $4,701,131 — $6,268,175: First, second and third-round pick

  • $6,268,175 — $7,835,219: Two first-round picks, a second and third

  • $7,835,219 and higher: Four first-round picks

Too be honest I am most interested in either Trying to poach Evander Kane, Vancouver Connection and small market team that might not be able to match a contract. OR one of the Saint Louis boys since they have 3 to sign.

They all would look great on our second line.

I don't think St.Louis would match Chris Stewart. He was a healthy scratch during the playoffs and has fallen out of favor with Hitchcock. I think maybe 3.5-4 mil would do the trick if any teams would want him.

No way Jets let Kane go.

No way Stars let Benn go.

No way Blues let Oshie go and probably wouldn't let Perron go either unless we overpaid.

Stewart would be the most realistic of the names you mentioned but after what the Blues gave up for him I could see them trying to develop him to be a bigger piece in the future. He has shown at times that he can be an elite powerforward in the NHL and is still very young.
