2012-2013 Line Up Suggestions With Trades/signings

Recommended Posts

Let's begin by stating the Canucks line ups last season.

2011-2012 Season Roster Lines

D. Sedin (6.1) - H. Sedin (6.1) - A. Burrows (2.0)

D. Booth (4.25) - R. Kesler (5.0) - M. Raymond (2.55)

C. Higgins (1.9) - S. Pahlsson (2.65) - J. Hansen (1.35)

M. Malhotra (2.5) - M. Lapierre (1.0) - Z. Kassian (0.87)

K. Bieksa (4.6) - D. Hamhuis (4.5)

A. Edler (3.25) - S. Salo (2.0)

K. Ballard (4.2) - M. Gragnani (0.55)

R. Luongo (5.33)

C. Schneider (0.9)

Cap Hit: 61.6

Suggested Trades

1st Trade

To Van: B. Ryan

To Ana: D. Booth, M. Raymond, C. Tanev,

Why? Ryan is the type of player we need. A 4 time 30 goal scorer with slick hands, only 25 years old, reasonable cap hit at 5.1 mill, as well as being 6'2, 209 lbs. In exchange, Other than the top scoring line and Selanne, the Ducks don't have much secondary scoring, Raymond would nicely fill in their 3rd line and possibly 2nd line. As well they have had defensive problems and that's where Tanev will help them out. Booth can replace Ryan in the top 6 role.

2nd Trade

To Van: T. Hamonic

To Nyi: R. Luongo, K. Ballard, 2nd Rounder

Why? Canucks get a very good defenseman in Hamonic that can easily be a solution to our defensive problems. Plus, he shoots right. In return, Islanders get a true #1 goalie in Luongo, Ballard can replace Hamonic in defense somewhat but getting Luongo helps, and throw in a 2nd Rounder to sweeten the deal. Islanders can take the cap of Ballard and Luongo as they have the most cap hit of all 30 NHL teams.

3rd Trade

To Van: J. Jokinen

To Car: 1st Rounder

Why? Jokinen is a great player and I think he would excel on a top team. Jokinen last 3 seasons played 70+ games and averaged 50+ points. Would be a great addition to the Canucks 2nd line.

i like that you got creative but I doubt Jokinen and Bobby Ryan will be moved.

As for the Hamonic trade, I would be happy if he was the guy the Nucks brought in for Luongo. Garth Snow who is obviously someone that believes in the importance in goaltending being a goalie himself might need to consider giving up their top up and coming dman for a guy like Luongo although Hamonic could be one of his "untouchables".

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,375,000; BONUSES: $0

CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $925,000

Trade Luongo+Ballard+1st for Malone+1st

Trade Edler+Raymond+Tampa's 1st for Weber (add in any prospects except Jensen or picks we need... basically give what it takes to make Nashville do this). If needed even throw in Hansen or Higgins and replace their roster spot with Jensen who may be able to take on an NHL role in limited minutes this season.

Sign UFAs Moen, Morrisonn, Sanford (or any veteran backup)

= Bigger and stronger lineup that is not out of the realm of possibility
