I don't think Tampa really has the assets that we want for Luongo so by adding Dallas to a three way trade I think all teams could benefit.

Vancouver receives:

Steve Ott - 2.95 million 1 year

Brendan Morrow - 4.1 million 1 year

Dallas receives:

Tampa first round pick (10th overall)

Tampa receives:

Roberto Luongo - 5.333 million 10 years

I know this trade could tinkered with so please leave your suggestions, but I believe this is the basis for a solid trade.

Ott and Morrow bring a great mix of grit, toughness and scoring to our team. Their contracts expire after next season and Morrow does have health risks but if he plays effectively along the Sedins I wouldnt see how we could be stopped. Both players personalities would also benefit our team. Morrow brings a ton of leadership and Ott is one of the few players in the nhl who yaps more than Burrows and Maxim Lapierre.

Dallas has financial problems and is building their team around young players like Jamie Benn, and Louie Erikkson. A first round pick would definitely speed up their rebuild.

Tampa gets an all star goalie. With Luongo on their team they could contend in the South East division.

Let me know what you think.

Sedin - Sedin - Morrow

Booth - Kesler - Burrows

Ott - Pahlson - Kassian/lapierre

Bitz - Lapierre/malhotra - Weisse

Dallas gets robbed so hard. A 10th overall pick in a weak draft, for their captain and a fantastic role player. Remember at the deadline Dallas wanted Hodgson+ for Ott. Yeah. That's how much they value him. And Dallas isn't having spending problems anymore with the new owner around. Vancouver would have to add a lot more going to the Stars to make this even remotely possible.

I can't see Dallas giving up Morrow and Ott.

To Dallas

Tampa's 10th Overall

Lapierre

To Tampa

Luongo

Raymond

To Vancouver

Ott

Purcell

Dallas gives up Ott for the 10th overall pick and Lapierre

Vancouver gives up Luongo, Raymond and Lapierre for Ott & Purcell

Tampa gives up the 10th overall pick and Purcell for Luongo and Raymond

Dallas - Downgrades agitators but saves money and gets a good piece to build for the future.

Tampa - Loses a draft pick and 2nd line player but gets a huge upgrade in net and a wildcard forward

Vancouver - Drops a big contract from an area of strength to improve the 2nd and 3rd lines.

Sedin Sedin Burrows

Booth Kesler Purcell

Hansen Ott Higgins

_____ Malhotra Kassian

3 Way Trades Never normally happen but I really like this. I think Dallas would want a little more if they are giving up two of their best veteran players.

To Dallas:

10th overall pick

Mason Raymond

Yann Sauve

To Tampa Bay

Roberto Luongo

To Vancouver

Brendan Morrow

Steve Ott

I like the idea, and potential return for Vancouver. However I think Tampa would have to give up more

Tampa Bay

Roberto Luongo

Vancouver 1st Rounder (26th)

Dallas

Brett Connolly

Tampa 1st Rounder (10th)

Vancouver

Brendan Morrow

Steve Ott

Dallas 1st Rounder (13th)

Tampa Bay gets the best player in the deal

Dallas moves up in the draft and gets a great young player for their core

Vancouver gets pieces to round out its 2nd/3rd line while moving up in the draft.

Not bad. What about a slightly modified version?

To Vancouver: Steve Ott + Jamie Oleksiak + 2012 1st (TB)

To Dallas: Teddy Purcell + Ryan Malone + Mason Raymond + 2012 2nd & 5th (Van)

To Tampa: Roberto Luongo + Brendan Morrow + Keith Ballard + Mark Fistric + 2012 1st (Dal)

For a trade to look good to everyone on here it has to be lopsided in our favour...

A realistic fair trade (like the ones in real life) would be..

Luongo, Raymonds rights and 1st (26th) to Tampa for Purcell and 1st (10th)

Even in my mind im cringing because it feels like overpayment adding raymonds rights or the 1st, but that right there is pretty even, given the fact raymond might not sign with tampa and the 10th overall pick could turn out VERY well.
