[Report] Ducks Sign Coach Boudreau To Two-Year Extension

Ducks sign coach Boudreau to two-year extension:

The Anaheim Ducks have signed coach Bruce Boudreau to a two-year contract extension through 2014-15.

Anaheim rewarded Boudreau on Thursday for reviving the struggling Ducks after taking charge Nov. 30.

The Ducks went 27-23-8 after Boudreau replaced the fired Randy Carlyle, compiling one of the NHL's best records after the All-Star break.

Two days before he took over in Anaheim, Boudreau was fired by the Washington Capitals, who won the 2010 Presidents' Trophy during his four seasons in charge.

Boudreau won the 2008 Jack Adams Award as the NHL's top coach. He is 228-111-48 in his NHL coaching career with Anaheim and Washington, winning 200 games faster than any coach in modern league history.

Meh. That team has problems that go beyond who's behind the boards. Might need to take a look at the GM chair if they don't do "something significant" between this summer and the next. Starting with their high-priced impending UFA captain. Hard to believe, but that guy makes the exact amount as Corey Perry. They should either move him to RW on their 2nd line or move him before the deadline next season. They've got $19.4m in cap space for next season, and, if they can acquire a top centre for Ryan and Perry and add "something significant" towards potentially replacing both Blake and Selanne this summer (Zack Parise?), then they might have something.

I think Boudreau deserves some credit for what he is doing in Anaheim right now, they are having a great season and I think resigning him was a great idea for their team. If it wasn't for Chicago having such a great season, Anaheim would be getting a lot more credit, for Boudreau imo has helpd this franchise, plus the stellar play from their young goalie.

Boudreau is probably a top-10 if not top-5 coach in the NHL. Just look at the reversal of roles of the two teams he moved between. Washington goes from a Cup contender and favourite to a bottom-3 team in the matter of a season or two, and Anaheim goes from a cellar-dwellar to Cup contender in a season.

You can thank Boudreau for it. He's getting the most out of his players and he knows how to push their buttons. He's also responsible for the genius move of Palmeiri to the first line which, over the last few games, has been the deadliest in the league.
