(Proposal) Van-Tbl (Purcell+) & Van-Clb (Nash+)

Recommended Posts

Hi.

- This works if the cap actually hits $70 million, and according to more and more articles and websites, it looks like it will go up even more

- The final result will be a 25-roster. This is incase the cap goes up a little more then $70 million, but you'll know who is on 2-way contracts to relieve some cap space

- This team fits under $70 million if you take away one player from either the depth defense OR depth forward.

TRADES:

To TBL: Roberto Luongo, Manny Malhotra (Limited NTC), Marc-André Gragnani & Andrew Alberts

To VAN: Teddy Purcell, Keith Aulie & TBL 1st (10th)

Luongo & Malhotra <---> Purcell & 1st

Alberts & Gragnani <---> Aulie

Tampa Bay needs to improve their penalty kill, which was 26th last season. Malhotra will help just that. They also get their franchise goaltender, who still has at least 5 good years left in him. Rodin & Gragnani heading to Tampa also gives them depth up front and on the blue line who are both more NHL ready than Aulie & Panik. Kesler finally gets his playmaker, and after watching quite a few videos, Purcell is a great passer who can make tough passes. Purcell is also a powerplay specialist. Aulie gives us size and defensive depth on the back end.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To CLB: Ballard, Tanev, Schroeder, Raymond (RFA), Sweatt, VAN 1st (26th) & VAN 2013 4th

To VAN: Nash, Dorsett (RFA) & Letestu

Ballard, Tanev, Raymond, Schroeder & 1st <---> Nash

2013 4th <---> Dorsett

Sweatt <---> Letestu

Columbus is in full rebuild mode. Schroeder, Sweatt, Tanev & the extra 1st round pick will help that. Columbus also lacked some defensive capabilities up front, so Raymond will help that area, while Ballard will get used properly (on the PP) over there, & being paired with Tanev will help round out the defense with Wisniewski, J. Johnson, Tyutin & Methot. Canucks get the best power forward in the league who would work well on both lines 1 & 2. The Sedins will finally get a star winger for them. Letestu as a 12th/13th/14th forward will help at center & RW. Dorsett led the league in PIMS last season AND he can also get about 20 points on the 4th line. Derek is fearless and will stick up for his team mates any day.

IMO, the TB trade is reasonable enough, but the CBJ trade won't work.

I think we'd need something along the lines of this:

To CBJ

Schroeder,Tanev,Aulie,2 1st round picks,Ballard and Raymond.

To VAN- Rick Nash,Dorsett,Letestu

Or a simpler proposal:

To CBJ-Edler,1st round pick, and Raymond

To VAN-Risk Nash

This trade makes no sense at all for either Tampa or the Blue Jackets.....

Tampa has Bergeron and would not be interested in a similar player in Gragnani and Alberts is overpayed for his role when they could resign Commadore who can provide the same for cheaper if they wanted that. Tampa also takes on significant salary while shedding the only player in their top 6 on a affordable contract.

Clb loses its star player and face of the franchise as well as Dosett coming off his best season scoring 12 goals while playing defensive hockey for 2 overpayed and under performing players (Ballard and Raymond), 2 undersized prospects who have very little or no NHL experience and a late 1st rnd pick.

How would you like to lose Daniel Sedin, Hansen and Lappiere for Marc Methot, Kristian Huseliius, Cody Goloubef, Cam Atkinson and the 32nd pick in the 2012 draft.

First one I like in a long time. Fair trade for Luongo, especially since Tampa needs a goalie.

The only thing is.. Stoll's not gonna leave LA now that they're in the Cup finals.
