Happy for him. We let him go and I was one of those people who thought that he was past his prime.

Best of luck to Willie. He was a heck of a player for us and I loved him while he played for us.

Alright ill since no one else will say it.

Im sour as hell, our year was supposed to be last year, and our failure will torture me for years to come..

Seeing a player of ours who left succeed, as his new team steamrolled us in the playoffs.

It eats me up inside.

I understand where MG was going with letting Mitchell go and getting 2 defencemen who had played almost every single game of the last few years (so were very durable and dependable).

The problem is, injuries are very unpredictable. Hamhuis and Ballard were both injured for long periods of time, especially when we needed Hamhuis in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Mitchell is healthy and playing well in the Finals.

I still think we should of kept Mitchell but sign him for less. He's the big, physical defensive specialist this team lacks and something we need a lot more of. Look at all the successful playoff teams over the last few seasons - they all have defensive-first defences with maybe one or two offensive defencemen. The Canucks have 1 defensive specialist in Hamhuis and the rest are all offensive guys who are brutal in their own zone - the EXACT opposite of what we need to be successful.

You mean defensive defenseman like Chicago had with Duncan Kieth & Brian Campbell?

But yes, letting Willie go would have been an awfully tough decision. Sign a guy who is not yet cleared to play to a multi million doallar contract when guys like Ballard (who was playing 22 minutes a game) and Hamhuis were available?

Ultimately, it turned out Ballard has missed just about as many concussion related games as Willie. And Willie has been a better player than Ballard (but not Hamhuis). I respect that decision.

And yes I am cheering for L.A because of Willie! He was a great Canuck!

Rumour mills suggest heavily that Gillis was trying extremely hard to get Brown, who was reported to be on the market at the deadline?

I would not even be surprised if Hodgson was the bait?

Wonder how that would have turned out?

The level of disgust i would feel seeing Dustin Brown lifting the cup outweighs me feeling good about seeing Willie lift it
