Bieksasangryface
Our anthem man, MD, has chosen to sing the national anthem at an anti-abortion rally. I find it rather appropriate that someone so closely linked to this team has come out in support of this divisive, graphic campaign. Link to article : http://sports.yahoo....-192042820.html P.S. The group he sang for drives 22 ft billboards displaying graphic images around the city. Is that really something young people in our society need to see? Regardless of the cause "shock" marketing is garbage.

Bieksasangryface
Yeah, recognize it could get ugly. Dont want that. Just dont know if its right that he did it. Have your beliefs but to throw behind something publicly like this, in a city like Van. Dont know what he was thinking.

arsenalian
Hmmm.. I wonder how the club feels about this. Could we have seen the last anthem sung by MD at Roger's Arena? Doubt it, but an odd decision for him to throw his support behind something like this
TOMapleLaughs
The guy isn't owned by the Canucks is he? Like the issue of abortion, this thread might have to be quietly and unceremoniously buried. Regards. TOML
clutchburr
Out of all the cities in North America, Vancouver is the worst for declaring a pro-life stance. Silly decision by Donnelly and honestly my respect for him has plummeted dramatically.
Armada
He can believe whatever he wants as long as he does a great job singing the anthem.
TOMapleLaughs
Aw forget it, bring on the debate! Here's my pro-choice argument: 1. There are too many people on the planet. Why keep the unwanted ones around too? 2. Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice, it's not like abortions are going to go away. It's either back-alley stuff or your dumpster babies. Not going to go away. Here's my pro-life argument: 1. You're going to hell. (You were likely going there anyway, but now you're really in Jesus' bad books.) 2. Orhpans. Sure, it's impossible to adopt a local one these days, but that doesn't mean we aren't exporting them. 3. Not enough Canadians on the planet. Pop 'em out. Tortorella's Rant
He can do what he wants. Who cares. It's not like he raped a woman. Why would anyone want to play for the Canucks or be associated with the franchise? Go hunting? You're shunned. Attend a controversial rally, people have a problem with it. Either associate yourself with this franchise and live your personal life under a rock the rest of the time or don't come here at all quite frankly. Bertuzzi Babe
Mark and his wife have nine children and his brother is the priest of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Parish in East Van. Was there ever any question about his religious affiliation and beliefs? If this was any other anthem singer, would we even care or know, for that matter? Who cares where he's singing the anthem? This is obviously a personal decision and it's rather petty of people to be discussing and castigating him for that decision on a hockey message board. -AJ-
Cool. He actually does do a lot of things other than just sing anthems at sports games. My friend's girlfriend was in an opera and he sang in that too.
