[Proposal] Canucks Off-Season (Trading Edler & Luongo)

Recommended Posts

Just something I thought of quickly. Probably not my best, and the defense at the end looks iffy to me mainly because of the absence of Edler (big fan of him) but I wanted to see what you guys thought and how it all turns out with the line-up and the cap situation (which would leave us in good shape for the future)

Trade #1:

To Toronto:

Roberto Luongo

Chris Tanev

Mason Raymond (RFA Rights)

1st Round Pick

To Vancouver:

Luke Schenn

1st Round Pick

Trade #2:

To St. Louis:

Alex Edler

To Vancouver:

T.J. Oshie (RFA Rights)

*Don't know if RFA rights are at all a factor in player value but if it is then add a pick if his value is lower because of this*

Re-Signings:

Corey Schneider 4-year deal worth 15 million (3.75 million cap hit)

Eddie lack 2-year deal worth 1.8 million (900K cap hit)

Aaron Volpatti 1-year deal worth 625K

Byron Bitz 2-year deal worth 1.4 million (700k cap hit)

Marc-Andre Gragnani 3-year deal worth 2.175 million (725K cap hit)

Dale Weise 2-year deal worth 1.3 million (650K cap hit)

T.J. Oshie 4-year deal worth 15 million (3.75 cap hit)

Free-Agent Signings:

Justin Shultz 3-year deal worth 3.75 million (1.25 million cap hit)

Jason Garrison 4-year deal worth 14 million (3.5 million cap hit)

If we're trading Luongo I want a better return than that. Otherwise, let's keep our franchise goalie, who holds most Nucks goalie records, and send Schneider off instead.

I'd hate to lose Tanev. But I worry for his development under AV.

And Edler could get FAR more than Oshie's rights. We should be able to get his rights plus a 2nd, or failing that, Shea Weber's rights. After all Edler is a 50pt Dman who would light it up with the right partner.

I like seeing Gragnani there - I'm looking forward to seeing him develop this season (again, will AV give him the chance?).

Schenn is horrible. 79 games and 86 shots or something close to that. He can not pass the puck tape to tape or make the right pass to get it out of the defensive zone. We have already lost Sultzer now you want to trade Tanev as well. Why on earth do you people believe Schenn is Bobby Orr? He has shown nothing but to be a complete bust in the NHL. Burke has even given up on him saying he is willing to trade him. With 3.6 cap hit that is terible for our club. Schenn adds no value what so ever to this team.
