[Report] Blues will not re-sign Carlo Colaiacovo & Chris Porter

Recommended Posts

Andy Strickland reports that the Blues will not sign Carlo Colaiacovo & Chris Porter. Will become UFA's July 1st:

Carlo Colaiacovo

The Blues haven’t completely shut the door on Colaiacovo but they will allow him to get to July first and test the waters. He’s coming off a two –year extension with St. Louis and is probably eyeing a contract similar to the $3.5 million Johnny Oduya was recently paid. Look for Colaiacovo to keep the communication open between he and the Blues even after July 1st.

Chris Porter

Chris Porter will be testing free agency after spending the last five years with the Blues. Many are interested to see what he’s capable of doing if presented a real opportunity. He spent the entire season in the NHL last year but saw just 47 games. He played two AHL games during the NHL all star break. He’s a guy still finding his way as a pro but has the speed and work ethic to play a quality energy role. He’s a worker off the ice and is hoping there’s a team willing to throw a one-way offer his direction. He'd like nothing more than to settle into a role with an NHL club.

Coliaccovo has incredible foot speed and stick handling from what I saw when he was a Leaf . He was not utilized to his full potential there IMO. He could fit in the top 6 for sure. He would be great on the PP as the poster above stated as well. His price tag might be a little to much but anything would be better than Ballard and his 4 mill yes ?

If they trade Ballard, Colaiacovo would slot nicely on bottom 6 left side - but def not @ $3.5M. He's a good puck mover, good underlying numbers. Him and Tanev could take tough mins away from Edler-partner.
