[Proposal] New Starts for Star Players

Philly gives: Bryz, J.V.R.

Columbus gives: Nash

Vancouver gives: Lu

Vancouver gets: Nash

Each team loses a franchise cornerstone who could use a new opportunity with another franchise. The Flyers could use an improved goalie like Lu, who has played in pressure cookers like Vancouver; why can't he thrive in another contender like Philly?

Vancouver should run with Cory Schneider in goal, and with their ample cap space they should be able to absorb the contract of another scoring star in Rick Nash, who should only thrive as the big man next to the Sedins. He's been consistently at or above a 0.7 point-per-game rate with the shambles of a roster he has around him; he can turn the team into a legit contender with him next to the Twins.

Columbus wants a starting goalie, and Holmgren likes to trade guys even though they've already been signed long-term. Ilya's played well behind solid defenses on shoddy teams like the Coyotes, and the Jackets have a solid D-core that just needs the wall at the back to patch up any mistakes by the skaters. Enter Ilya. Of course, the value wouldn't be equal there, but J.V.R. has strong potential to become a very similar player as Nash, and since he's younger he'll have time to grow alongside the decent young group already existent in Columbus.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure how Lu would do in Philly. They can be just as bad as our fans and the team is facing expectations after their previous playoffs exits. However maybe a new change in scenery will help or Lu is willing to try that if he really did put T.O. on his list.
