Blömqvist
You really think a 7.8 cap hit is worth a player that's only netted one 70 point season in his career - when you could try to use that cash (and save the assets) and make a pitch for Suter or wait a year for Weber? Two guys that are Top 1 or 2 on ANY team in this league? We've been offensively at the top of the league for years running....it's defensive breakdowns that keep costing us. Tangelos
You say that like you expect Bjugstad to centre the 2nd line
MoneypuckOverlord
Brian Burke better shut the hell up about telling other media people that "Gillis is asking for too much." Brian Burke has already let his mouth got the better of him. Maybe he's offering to little. Has he considered that?
Hafizzle
If we're going after Bjugstad, with all these centres we've accumulated, it makes you wonder if Kesler will possibly be on the move unless of course Schroeder would be going back the other way. Tangelos
Give your head a shake man. The Sedins are going to retire in a few years. We only have Ryan Kesler who is a proven top 6 center in our system. Schroeder, LaBate and Gaunce are a few years away from being that. Also, Bjugstad, should we get him, will be a couple years away from being a top 6 center. So no, we will not be trading Kesler any time soon. If anything, we will be trading the depth center prospects, but not Kesler.
riffraff
How about that Brad Winchester thread? It wouldve lasted even longer if it weren't for Volpatti's one punch KO on him.
Tangelos
Schroeder can also play wing. As Dasein pointed out, Bjugstad wouldn't be stepping into a top 6 role anytime soon. Additionally, the Sedins probably only have a few more elite years in them before their game starts slipping. We're going to need some players to step up when that begins happening. I would absolutely love Bjustad on this team. Really hope Gillis can pull that one off.
Hafizzle
The sedins are only 31. They can probably still play till 36. That is 5 years from now and by that time Gaunce will be 23, Bjugstad will be 25 and Schroeder will be 26. Do you honestly think these star centres in the making are going to be that patient before getting a significant role on the team? To me it seems like the second line centre position will be up for grabs in 2 years or so.
Italia2006
Aaron Portzline @Aportzline Don't know where this stands now, but over #NHLdraft weekend I heard G Roberto Luongo to Chicago, if the #Blackhawks could make $$$ work. Team 1040 retweeted this. I can't believe we would deal with the Hawks. I guess they would have to give us a really good deal to do a deal with them. I also think it's a way to give a Burke I told you so. I wonder if they where offering Kane?

Hafizzle
I can't see Gillis trading Luongo to the Hawks unless there was absolutely no other team interested or they completely overpay for him to the point that their offer blows everyone else's out of the water. hockeyfan90
If hawks were to trade any of their top players it would be Hossa not Kane.... I think Luongo for Hossa straight up makes sense because both are long contracts with a big cap hit. Even's out for both team. Maybe we'd have to add in something else like a 2nd round pick or something.
Italia2006
Why not? we play them twice a year in the proposed format that will be implemented most likely next year. And they actually have stuff worth trading unlike TO. I still think a LU + 1st + mid tier prospect would get us kane.
