There are rumours that the Winnipeg Jets may not be able to sign their rfa netminder Ondrej Pavelec, and there are rumours that he may go to the KHL.

So if the Jets feel they will be unable to sign him, they will trade his rights. That leaves the Jets with Chris Mason. Mason was a starter at one time in the NHL(St. Louis, Nashville) , but those days are behind the 36 year old. No disrespect to Mason, but he can't be a guy that would lead the Jets into the playoffs.

Here is where the Canucks come in. The Canucks have two quality goaltenders in Luongo and Schneider, and unfortunately, one of them have to go.

The Canucks see that the Jets have rfa Evander Kane. And I'm sure all of us have heard of Evander Kane. He is from Vancouver, and played for the Giants. He is the type of player the Canucks need. He is big, has speed, and can score goals. Not to mention that he is only 20 years old. He has loads of potential, and can truly break out as one of the NHL's elite when playing with a talented Canucks team.

So the Canucks trade Cory Schneider and Mason Raymond

to Winnipeg for Evander Kane and Chris Mason.

How would you guys feel about this? Mason is capable of playing 20-30 games, and would understand his role coming to this team.

As for Evander Kane, it would be everything he could ask for, his hometown team, and a contending team.

For Schneider, he gets to go to a place he is very familiar with, as he played for the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg back in his days in the AHL. And for Raymond, he gets a fresh start playing for a team that will look to him to score a lot goals.

This trade I believe can really take the Canucks over the top. They're already a great team, this just makes them better.

There's a proposal forum specific for this kind of thread, just so you know for the next you have one.

It's been proposed we move Cory for Evander a few times, but until something more solid happens with Pavlec, there's no chance of it happening.

At this point, assuming Pavlec is staying if they offer him a fair deal, Winnipeg would be much more interested in a top line center. Kesler's NTC doesn't kick in until next season, and they have a surplus of younger 2nd/3rd line centers they could include in the deal back to us. They get their 1st liner and probably a winger prospect to replace Kane, we get 2nd/3rd liner support and an elite winger in the making.

Then we still have Luongo we can deal for defensive support to round out our team and we're potentially better off despite losing Kesler.
