Canadiens sign Travis Moen to a 4-year contract:

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the signing of forward Travis Moen to a four-year contract (2012-13 to 2015-16). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Travis brings tremendous leadership to our club, and is very appreciated from his teammates. He expressed his desire to remain with the Canadiens organization and we are very happy to have come to an agreement with him before July 1st. He has a lot of experience and brings a physical presence to our group of forwards,” said Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin.

Moen, 30, completed his eighth season in the NHL in 2011-12, his third with the Canadiens. In 48 games, the left winger notched 16 points (9 goals, 7 assists). Moen suffered a season-ending upper body injury on February 9 against the Islanders at Long Island.

Since his debut in 2003-04, Moen has registered 107 points (52 goals, 55 assists) in 570 NHL regular-season games. The 6’2’’, 210 lbs forward has recorded 681 penalty minutes. Moen has scored one of his goals on the powerplay. He has accumulated 19 points (11 goals, 8 assists) in 68 career NHL playoff contests, winning the Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks. A native of Stewart Valley, Saskatchewan, Moen first signed with the Canadiens as a free agent on July 10, 2009.
