{Proposal} - Addresses Needs

Recommended Posts

=====Trade 1=====

To TOR:

Roberto Luongo

To VAN:

Tyler Bozak

Joe Colborne

Mike Komisarek

Tor gets the high-end veteran goalie they need. They give Bozak who only has a year left on his deal, and was a free agent signing anyway. They give up Colborne to make the deal worth while, and Komisarek to dump salary.

A good comprimise.

=====Trade 2=====

To NYR:

Higgins, 2nd

To VAN:

Brandon Dubinksy

I have to thank Smashian Kassian for this trade idea. I have thought of Dubinsky for a while, but couldn't think of what to offer. This works IMO.

NYR relieves some salary and gets replacement scoring.

We get a replacement center for kesler, who can also play wing and move up/down the lineup.

=====Sign 1=====

Curtis Sanford - 2yr/625,000 ea

Our back-up.

=====Sign 2=====

Byron Bitz - 1yr/650,000

See what he can do with a full season

=====Sign 3=====

Shane Doan 2yr/4,550,000

I believe Vancouver would be high on Shane's list, if it does not work out with PHX.

My Custom Lineup

FORWARDS

Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Shane Doan ($4.550m)

Brandon Dubinsky ($4.200m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / David Booth ($4.250m)

Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m) / Tyler Bozak ($1.500m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m)

Joe Colborne ($1.100m) / Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m)

Aaron Volpatti ($0.600m) / Byron Bitz ($0.650m)

DEFENSEMEN

Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m)

Alexander Edler ($3.250m) / Jason Garrison ($4.600m)

Keith Ballard ($4.200m) / Mike Komisarek ($4.500m)

Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) / Chris Tanev ($0.900m)

GOALTENDERS

Cory Schneider ($4.000m)

Curtis Sanford ($0.625m)

SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $73,300,000; BONUSES: $462,500

CAP SPACE (24-man roster):- $3,100,000

I understand that this goes over the cap. I did that intentionally beceause of the injury reserve we will get from Kesler. This gives us a lot of options until he gets back, and keeps competition hot knowing someone has to go.

I think Kimisarek could give us some great depth, and may even work out well with Ballard.

Upon Kesler's return, we can waive a player(s) to become compliant. That is assuming that no one else is injured.

Gillis plays dangerously close to the cap every year, and when the regular season is over, we are usually (technically) over. So I think this would be the same.

The lineup options are endless.

So you're basically saying you're going to either bury an all-star goalie's contract in the AHL? How do you think other players around the league would think of this? It would give the canucks franchise a bad name for itself because if we burried Loui in the AHL then allot of players out their wouldnt want to sign with us because their worried if they under-achieve they will be put into the ahl. Personally, i think there's no way we dont trade him, no way Mike Gillis invests over 9 million into goaltending...I honestly dont know up to this point where Loui will end up going, but if we traded with toronto i wouldnt mind bozak, but definetly not komiserak especially after we signed garrison

Take out Komisarek and it would be better, not good, but better.

I don't want that guy anywhere near the Canucks.

Bozak isn't too great either.

If we trade him to Toronto I would like to see Franson or (not likely) Gardiner coming back.

Something else that crossed my mind is that New York does not want Higgins.

The guy was a bum there, and I doubt they want him back any time soon.

I believe Komisarek will be necessary to faciliate the trade.

Bozak is pretty decent. On our team I think he could really do well.

Gardiner is NOT happening. Franson maybe, but I was trying address needs.

Colbourne and Bozak isn't a good enough return for Lu to begin with, let alone having to deal with Komisarek.

They wouldn't be getting the same player back, that's for sure. I think history has shown that team can/will take players back. Some of course more rediculous that others....Calgary hahaha

I too would like to get more for Luongo, but I don't think it is possible.

Let me ask you a question. What do you think would be a good/realistic return for Luongo?

For starters, every passing day I doubt more and more we trade in to Toronto. It's starting to look like Florida or bust.

If Toronto did take him I think we could get Franson and Tyler Biggs (22nd overall in 2011)/Ashton/Colbourne (preference in that order).

Probably be a 2nd or 3rd liner.

6'2 210lbs (still growing/gaining weight).

Mean and nasty, has some offensive capabilities. Compared to Lucic.

Him and Kassian would be a force.

We would probably have to throw extra in to get him over Ashton or Colborne.
