Tystick
why is everyone saying that edler is going to be asking too much money should be traded. He's clearly been one of our better defensmen over the past couple of years. So why give him away. CanucksFanMike
Do you not understand how the salary cap works? Edler is a young, point-producing dman who will demand a hefty raise next summer being a UFA. If we do not offer him that money then he will walk and go to another team where he will get paid a rediculous salary (ex. Ehrhoff). I agree with you 100%, I do not think we should trade him by any means but with the salary cap being cut down by the next CBA we may not be able to afford overpaying him. Oh, and BTW we wouldn't be giving him away, we would be packaging him into a Shea Weber type deal.

Drybone
The only way I let Edler walk is in a package for Shea Weber. If no Weber, then we re sign him long term .

hockeyking
Exactly, hes been our best offensive defenseman for sure. I can see Ballard gone before Edler. Although, you really have to wonder if MG's intentions were to trade Edler. Why keep Ballard? He's a waste of cap since we're not even using him properly. DaMacNamedDre
After his train wreck playoff performance i would dish Edler in a Weber trade in a heartbeat.
Drybone
I still can't believe they gave Green all that green. i like Green and his offensive gifts but defensively he is not even a top 4 pairing.
Not A Fruit
Greens contract = I like Edler, I hope he doesn't get traded or wants to much cash. I love him, except for his bad performance in the playoffs.
Kerry Park Islanders
Edler isn't going anywhere they will resign him long term. He may then be very attractive in a trade package. How do i know he will resign? because of his swedish surrogates.

rawkdrummer
Nashville needs to replace 2 top d-men if they trade Weber as they already lost Suter. If we were to be offered Weber in a trade then my thinking is Edler would be the first piece of a package of player/prospect/picks going back the other way.
