yogolol
Kind of a random thread but I was thinking about this earlier when I was playing NHL 12 and they had Kesler on the point. I remember we tried it with Kesler late in the season and it didn't work out. I don't think Kesler is the right type of player he's much better used in front of the net, I think it needs to be someone who has a good shot but also excels at playmaking and can make good passing plays (slap pass for example) I wouldn't want to start off the year with a forward on the point, but if the powerplay struggles which forward would you want to put on the point? I'm not really sure who would be the best for this on our team, hell I can't even think of anyone that I think would work playing on the point, Raymond comes to mind because he's not good in tough areas and loses puck battles but he has a good shot and if he gets beat he has the speed to chase down someone. Everybody Hates Raymond
I'd put Higgins. Nice shot, great passing ability.
uber_pwnzor
I really don't think we need a forward on the point, Sedin - Sedin - Kesler Garrison - Edler Sounds like a killer first unit to me.

Mack Attack
Samuelsson! Hodgson! In all seriousness, I think Henrik on the point would work pretty well. He doesn't have the shot, but he can quarterback the hell out of a powerplay. Slap passes galore! I would still go with Edler /Garrison but in the case of injury, or mixing it up, Daniel-Kesler-Burrows and Henrik and Edler/Garrison on the point would be pretty good too. cIutch
kesler needs to get back to the front of the net where he belongs
Jägermeister
Booth? Good vision, would be able to get back quickly incase there is a turnover, has a decent shot. But yeah, I think Garrison, Bieksa, Edler, Hamhuis, and maybe even Ballard are all perfectly capable before we resort to that.

TOMapleLaughs
Kesler was put there because he was getting abused too much in front of the net. You have to rotate the net presense if you want to survive a full season and playoffs. If we put a forward on the point, i'd have it be D. Sedin. Raymond on the 2nd unit point, if needed. Jai604
There really is no need for a forward on the point with the defensemen we have available. Edler, Garrison, Ballard, Bieksa can all play the powerplay just fine. To be honest, I think Kesler is better off playing near the left circle, instead of in front of the net. The guy takes too much of a beating in front of the net, and we all know with him, health is an issue.
John.Tallhouse
mix it up between Kes and Garrison?
*vInTaGe*
I wouldn't mind Daniel there if we're out of defencemen.
ButterBean
Only Daniel Sedin comes to mind really. He has the shot and playmaking skills. I'd much rather see a defenseman on the point though. If Edler - Garrison doesn't work out to well, which I doubt, I'd like to see Ballard - Garrison/Edler or Hamhuis - Garrison/Edler. Ballard is a great passer and Hamhuis almost always knows how to make the right play.
