[Proposal] - VAN - STL

Recommended Posts

Man u guys are soo biased seriously. "No we don't want to trade higgins or hansen or lapierre they mean too much to our team. LEt's trade them raymond instead or malhotra.' And yet you guys want the players that are valuable to their respective teams. Keep believing that. It'll be funny if next year Higgins signs with another team and let's see what u think then.

Back to the question, I'd definitely do this trade. But I think Blues would say no, especially if its Ian Cole.

STL is looking for an upgrade to top 4 D.

To Van: Alex Steen + Brett Ponich (or Ian Cole)

To Stl: Hansen + Ballard + pick

Pick would depend on if its Ponich or Cole. Not sure they'd be willing to part with Cole, so it would probably need to be Ponich.

For STL:

Ballard is an upgrade to top4 D. Hansen can play either wing to fill the gaps and is younger.

For Van:

Steen is underrated offensively and is sound defensively. He can also play center. We gain a little more size in the lineup and free up a little more Cap room for Doan.

Hansen won't break the 2nd line on this team, or at least on a regular basis. He will probably never crack 200lb either. He could easily be a skilled second liner on another team. Yes, he's good, but I think he's the trade piece in this deal. Nobody wants Raymond unless he's cheap, and he could rebound this year and surprise. Ballard is questionable for top 4 fit on STL, but its still an upgrade. Ponich is the right project player imo, and we need to stock the farm.

Lineup would be as follows. We'd have to acquire Steen, Franson for Luongo, Hansen, Ballard, prospects and picks. We have KCo, Sauve, Schroeder, and Sweat to step up for injuries. I'll admit it is missing Doan, but this plan isn't banking on it. Lots of flexibility in players who can change positions. The D is in no particular order other than two power play units and a shutdown line.
