CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)

(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)

SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,375,000; BONUSES: $0

CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $825,000

Assuming we trade Luongo and Raymond for picks/prospects.

I would feel very confident with this line up. Originally wanted an upgrade on Defense, but I think Tanev and Ballard could surprise people this year.

Thoughts on this line up?

The only issue is that Hansen isn't a 4th liner, and he is more effective on the third then most/all of our players, maybe put Hansen on the third and Higgins on the 4th or else send Kassian down or something, either way I would much rather have Hansen on the 3rd.

Looks okay other than that, I do still have my doubts about Arnott though.

SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $74,568,333; BONUSES: $0

CAP SPACE (25-man roster):- $4,368,333

so as you can see that brings us almost 4.4 million over the cap, however, a luongo trade is inevidable IMO and apparently his vallue is going down so i say we cap dump him, trade for prospects/picks and sign eddie lack as a back up. if done this brings us to 305 thousand under the cap.

now the big question, how do we resign star players burrows and edler the following year?

simple we dont resign Malhotra and Raymond. all 4 contracts expire the same year (along with others i dont see getting raises)

this line up would win the cup as much as i would hate to lose luongo

First of all you dont trade an all star goalie for a cap dump.

Also your lines and pairings r out of order. Switch raymond and higgins. and we r definetely not scratching lapierre.

Then your d pairings, hamhuis and bieksa r our top pair, edler and garrison r the second pair and ballard and tanev have chemistry fr our third pair.

But with the fixed lines then i agree, we would definetely contend for the cup
