Vancouver 2013 Possible Dream Team.

Recommended Posts

I would leave to hear people's thoughts on this.

First time attempting to make a team.

And yes I know I traded away Ballard and Raymond, doesn't make it a noob team.

FORWARDS

Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Shane Doan ($6.200m)

David Booth ($4.250m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m)

Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Jordan Schroeder ($1.025m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)

Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Dale Weise ($0.615m)

Andrew Ebbett ($0.600m) / Byron Bitz ($0.700m)

DEFENSEMEN

Alexander Edler ($3.250m) / Jason Garrison ($4.600m)

Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m)

Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) / Mike Komisarek ($4.500m)

Chris Tanev ($0.900m) /

GOALTENDERS

Cory Schneider ($4.000m)

Eddie Lack ($0.900m)

While Kes is injured Schroeder can play 2nd line while Manny centers the 4th line and Lappy goes to 3rd. Bring in Bitz to fill hole in 4th line.

Sign Shane Doan to a 4 year deal paying him Sedin type money.

Leave Burr with Kes and Booth

Trade:

Vancouver: Mike Komisarek 1st Round Pick and Nazem Kadri (AHL to start season)

Toronto: Roberto Luongo 2nd Round Pick, 3rd Round Pick and Keith Ballard

Van Gets:

1st rounder which only gets better the worse the Leafs do.

Rid of Ballard

A promising star given the right surroundings in Kadri.

Tor Gets:

A true number 1 goalie who can play 70 games for them.

2 draft picks to balance out the trade

and rid of Komisarek's contract who is worse than Ballard's

Trade:

Vancouver: Brayden Mcnabb and a 3rd round pick.

Buffalo: Mason Raymond and Janik Hansen

Van Gets:

Huge D-man

Compensation for Kassian trade :P

Buffalo Gets:

Speedy Wingers who could thrive in a smaller hockey market

Speedy Wingers who can help the teams 2nd or 3rd line

Please feel free to correct me on something :)

I would rather we don't make that Toronto trade.

I could get behind the Buffalo trade, McNabb is going to be pretty good, but he won't even be a full-time NHLer for another 2 or 3 years, so it makes our team quite a bit worse for the upcoming season. Not bad, but I would pass.

Would prefer if Arnott was signed and the 3rd or 4th line centerman instead of Schroeder.

Can't trade Hansen, he's a playoff performer. Higgins - Arnott - Hansen, would be a sound playoff line.

Need a real veteran backup goalie. Anything happens to Cory, no way I want Lack in the net during the playoffs.

And HamJuice is still our top d-pairing. ;)

We won't get much for Luongo so that TO trade might work.

As for a veteran back up sending Lack and Schroeder down to the AHL would leave cap space of around 4.9 Mill

Sign Arnott for $3,000,000 and sign Ty Conklin as a back up for $800,000

So Roster would look like:

FORWARDS

Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Shane Doan ($6.200m)

David Booth ($4.250m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m)

Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Jason Arnott ($3.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)

Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Dale Weise ($0.615m)

Andrew Ebbett ($0.600m) / Byron Bitz ($0.750m)

DEFENSEMEN

Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) / Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m)

Jason Garrison ($4.600m) /Alexander Edler ($3.250m)

Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) / Mike Komisarek ($4.500m)

Chris Tanev ($0.900m) /

GOALTENDERS

Cory Schneider ($4.000m)

Ty Conklin ($0.800m)

------

SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,260,000

CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $940,000

Better? :D

Terrible return from Toronto. We're better off not trading Lu if this is all we're gonna get. We know teams have offered somewhat decent pieces (Schenn, Bolland etc) so he's not going to go for nothing. Florida has better pieces and I'd prefer to trade with them, but the Leafs will be more desperate and are more likely to overpay. Bottom six and the bottom defence pairing are both pretty weak; the Buffalo trade doesn't help us now at all and hurts our forward depth.

As for backup goalies, I'd try Huet, Nittymaki and Ellis before Conklin. Or try to get one of Theodore/Clemmenson back from FLA.
