A 27-year-old man was allegedly pepper-sprayed by two transit police officers outside a Vancouver SkyTrain station in February

Two of TransLink's transit system police officers have been charged with assault after a man was allegedly pepper-sprayed at a Vancouver SkyTrain station earlier this year.

The 27-year-old man was sitting on some steps leading to the Granville station in the early evening of Feb. 9 when he was approached by the officers.

The officers had been asked to check on the welfare of a man in distress who matched the description of the man sitting on the steps.

It's alleged the officers physically assaulted and pepper-sprayed the man as he tried to walk away.

The Transit Police asked the Vancouver Police Department to conduct an independent investigation, which resulted in charges being laid by the Crown.

Transit Police constables Alfred Wong and Bruce Shipley have now each been charged with one count of assault.

Case closed.

Although there seems to be a few relevant sentences missing between these two...
