From LA Kings Insider:

The Kings announced that Jonathan Quick underwent a "minor surgical procedure" today to repair a disc frament and an inflammatory cyst that had formed in his back. The team said that Quick will begin rehab in approximately one week and a full recovery is expected, with the recovery time a minimum of six weeks.

[uPDATE: Just had a quick chat with assistant general manager Ron Hextall. Hextall said Quick and the Kings had been aware of the back issue since the start of summer, but that therapy, and not a surgical procedure, had initially been recommended. Hextall said that the recovery, through therapy, "wasn't coming along quite like we hoped, so the next step was to go this route." Hextall said Quick should be ready for full activity "sometime around" the scheduled start of training camp, but noted that every player's recovery time is different. That also assumes, of course, that training camp will start on time...]

A little surprised there are a few votes that the Kings won't keep Bernier longer as a result. Perhaps those who voted that way were thinking they weren't going to move him any time soon anyway, so wouldn't keep him longer than they'd already planned to.
