So they found the foot which had painted toenails (a woman) in a park close to the cross-streets of Eglinton Ave. W and Mississauga Road and found the head in the Credit River.

*edited title to be more accurate.

Wow.

Mississauga has very few "bad" areas (or none at all) unlike many other cities in Canada and/or the US. It's basically equivalent to Richmond; about 15-20 mins drive to Toronto, similar to that going to Vancouver, depending on the area.

Peel Regional Police say they've found a severed head of a woman in the Credit River in Mississauga, Ont., one day after a human foot with painted toenails was found in the vicinity.

Investigators found the head late Thursday morning in the Credit River about a kilometre upstream from the spot at Hewick Meadows Park where the foot was discovered, said acting Insp. Randy Cowan at a news conference.

He could not confirm if the foot and head belonged to the same person.

The head appears to be that of an adult woman based on a preliminary examination, he said.

Cowan said police are "leaning towards" a theory that foul play is involved.

"There's definitely something amiss."

A group of people were hiking in the park near Eglinton Avenue West and Mississauga Road Wednesday and discovered what appeared to be a foot in the shallows of the Credit River that runs through the park, said Cowan.

A coroner later confirmed it is a human foot that had been severed from the ankle down.

Police are currently running tests on the foot and will run tests on the head to determine the age and gender of who the body parts belonged to.

The presence of nail polish has led police to suspect the foot belonged to a woman.

Investigators continue to search the park.
