TheRussianRocket.
Why the NFL. Don't think they've been too bad about it other than dragging their feet in the investigation. More media/fans who should have to apologize Well I think onus is on them since they're the ones who've dealed with this "investigation" in such a sloppy manner to begin with. That's kind of the starting point and the rest snowballs with media and fans but it all originates from origin, the league. Could've done a much better job handling it than publicly spewing out words without any evidence.
Stizz19
You know there is no evidence as to what happened and it was natural causes so they can't really do anything. And they just fined Wilfork a few days ago for a late hit in the Colts game so yea. To think there's a conflict of interest is utter bs and trickling into the insane conspiracy world. Just no. You are the worst Pats fan I have had the displeasure of reading. You seriously think "natural causes" deflated the football. Wow, this has happened in the past and nothing was done. Only in NE is there such a force to deflate footballs to where another team who intercepts can tell. Wow...just wow.

Do you not know Lussac's Law? I'm guessing you don't. If not, I'm pretty sure you've seen some real life examples when you put a basketball outside in the cold and come back there's less air pressure in the ball....yea, same sort of thing here. And yea, I'm totally an idiot....:http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2015/01/26/scientists-agree-that-football-will-lose-air-pressure-when-moved-cooler-place/2KfFPHn9dARXXCwMgBMSkO/story.html?hootPostID=a9b5486742f790c428534771d1e3d792Scientists find Belichick’s explanation plausible"Professor Belichick got it exactly right," said Richard P. Binzel, professor of planetary science at MIT. It’s basic physics, folks. Four of the Boston area's best scientific minds, zeroing in on the controversy over the Patriots use of underinflated footballs, agreed: If you take a ball from a warm place to a cool place, it will lose air pressure. "Professor Belichick got it exactly right," said Richard P. Binzel, professor of planetary science at MIT, referring to the Patriots coach, Bill Belichick. On Saturday, Belichick blamed "atmospheric conditions" for the lower-than-required air pressure in 11 out of 12 Patriot footballs in the team's 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts a week ago. Belichick said the game balls had been inflated to the regulation 12.5 to 13.5 pounds per square inch and then got softer in the 51-degree air. Although not all were ready to endorse the Patriots' theory, the scientists contacted Sunday agreed that the team's explanations do not defy the laws of nature. "Everything they said doesn't seem impossible to me," said James Bird, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Boston University. "Based on simple ideal-gas-law calculations, I would not be surprised if the Patriots are vindicated. That said, there are many unknowns that can make small differences. . . . " Binzel said the basic facts apply everywhere. "If you take a football at room temperature and take it outside to a cold playing field, the ball pressure will go down every time," he said. "This is true not just at Foxborough but at every playing field, whether here on earth or all the way out to Pluto." Binzel calculated that a 5 to 10 percent dip in temperature could bring about a drop of 0.5 to 1.5 pounds per square inch, or psi, in a ball’s air pressure. As for reports that the pressure had dropped by as much as 2 pounds per square inch in some of the balls, Binzel said that "there are a lot of fuzzy numbers"being talked about, and the accuracy of the meters used to measure the footballs is unknown. Softer footballs are thought to be easier to handle, and the NFL is investigating whether the Patriots deliberately sought an advantage by underinflating the balls.Harvard's L. Mahadevan said he found Bill Belichick's argument within the realm of possibility. In his press conference Saturday, Belichick explained that the team had conducted a simulation to determine how the air pressure could have dropped. Along with cooler temperatures, he also offered another factor: The team routinely rubs the balls to break them in, a process that he said can raise the air pressure by heating the ball. Then, he said, the pressure could drop once the balls were turned over to the referees. Michael J. Naughton, chairman of the physics department at Boston College, called the ball-rubbing argument "technically possible." "If there is enough friction, it could change the pressure," he said. If the pressure measurements were taken soon after this "rubdown," the balls would be starting out warmer than room temperature, making for a steeper drop in temperature. "I'm not forming any opinions on what happened," Naughton added. But there is no question that temperature affects pressure, and every football on every football field in history has lost pressure when brought from a warm place to a cooler one, he said. L. Mahadevan, a professor of applied mathematics, physics, and biology at Harvard, also found Belichick’s argument within the realm of possibility. "If the ball was just at regulation pressure indoors after the players had worked with it, it very well could depressurize a little — but that depends on the temperature difference, all other things being equal (which may not be the case)," he wrote in an e-mail. Michael Naughton, physics professor at Boston College. Mahadevan estimated that a drop from 80 degrees to 53 degrees would cause the pressure to fall from 12.5 to 11.9 pounds per square inch. Mahadevan's calculations explain only a small drop in pressure, but not one as great as the 2 pounds per square inch that had been reported. But Bird points out that only small differences are at play, and the measurements are not precise enough to draw conclusions. "If it lost 5 psi, I think this would be a very different conversation," he said. Under NFL rules, each team supplies their own footballs to the game. The Belichick explanation suggests that the Colts, who have not faced similar questions, may have used balls with higher air pressure. The Patriots are preparing to face the Seattle Seahawks in Sunday's Super Bowl, even as the air pressure controversy that has come be known as Deflategate continues among fans and scientists. At least one attempt to reproduce conditions on the football field seems to support the Patriots. HeadSmart Labs, a Pittsburgh research company working on preventing head injuries from sports, said that it conducted a study that found weather and field conditions alone could have lowered the pressure by as much as 1.95 psi. "We took 12 brand-new authentic NFL footballs and exposed them to the different elements they would have experienced throughout the game," said Thomas Healy, founder of HeadSmart Labs, in a press release. "Out of the 12 footballs we tested, we found that, on average, footballs dropped 1.8 psi when being exposed to dropping temperatures and wet conditions." Meanwhile, Bill Nye the Science Guy, who has become a minor celebrity for his ability to make science understandable to the masses, couldn't help but weigh in. He told "Good Morning America" that Belichick's explanation about rubbing the footballs did not make sense. But Nye added: "Incannot help but say, Go Seahawks." As for the Boston-area professors, could they be influenced by their football allegiances? They all said no. Naughton is a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, but said, "My answers to any of these questions don’t change regardless of whether I’m a fan or not." Mahadevan does not follow football at all. Bird says he will probably watch the game but is not passionate about it. And Binzel acknowledges being a Patriots fan, but notes: "The laws of physics know no fandom. The laws of physics play no favorites." Again, science. And actually this happens all the time. If you want I can give you players saying it themselves if you can't swallow the science and common sense put in place here. It's quite funny because you're probably one of those guys who just believes what the media is jamming down the throat of viewers on TV and thinks there's no way the balls could be deflated other than tampering. Get out of here. Science > haters.

Media drove this story to the airport that they found out after an INT...Colts LB Jackson who was the supposed player who felt the difference after his INT but after the reports came out said they were false and he never knew at all nor did he tell the team which led to a call to the league and adjustment at halftime.

Bruce Boudreau
How can some cheer for 2 teams? I know how can you be a Pats-Hawks fan? I mean I get they don't play each other rarely. But what do you think watching the Super Bowl? Do u cheer both teams when they make big plays and get upset at no one but the refs? It just isn't as fun to watch the game without being emotionally invested in it or having some money on the line. I mean sure even a casual or new fan can appreciate a great game even if they don't know more than a handful or players or their personalities/character or what the story lines are etc. I've never been a fan of dynasty teams so it is easy for me to root against teams like Seattle and New England and the Cowboys. Just gets boring seeing the same team or teams always there year after year and having to deal with the fans and media attention that winners all get. I guess misery loves company. In pretty much all sports I seem to go for the starved for a championship type other than maybe soccer. Still if you are a winning team you have to expect either love or hate and strong emotions and people never being neutral. It just comes with the territory. For Canucks and other long suffering fans it is easier to hope other teams lose than hoping one magical year everything falls into place and your team finally somehow finds a way to win a championship. Bottom line I'm still undecided and finding it hard to really hard to root for one of these teams I just see so many similarities between them. Especially if Seattle wins I expect them to become the next dynasty after the Patriots. Edited January 27, 2015 by Chip Kelly
SabreFan1
If they were under inflated when the refs got them, and the refs did nothing (aka didn’t inflate them to the minimum), then that’s in no way New England’s fault. That would be 100% on the refs. The refs inspected, weighed, and marked them as good before the game started so they were fine when they were given back to NE shortly before the game started. All we can do is wait and see. The NFL is obviously holding everything back until after the Super Bowl. If ever there was a game that the league would have a bias toward, it's this one. I'm willing to bet the NFL execs are hoping and praying that the Pats lose so things don't get even worse. Keep an eye on the reffing during this game. I think Seattle rolls over the Pats. We heard the same stuff were hearing about the Pats, last year with the Broncos. Both Sherman and Thomas talked about how good Gronk is and how it's going to be hard to slow him down. Head coach Pete Carroll said they were still watching film to see what combinations they could use to slow him down because he's the best TE in the game. Was listening to a Fox beat reporter on the radio who covers Seattle and he said the Seahawks were experimenting with bracketing Gronk with Irvin and Thomas but they didn't like that it left Maxwell and Simon in 1 on 1 coverage on the weak side against most likely Lafell and Vereen. If there's one single player Seattle should care about, it's Gronk. Just like if there's one single player NE should care about, it's Lynch.
