Now that was some crazy game...don't know why GB coaching hasn't played Jeff Janis over Devante all season...DA is just a drop machine and JA is a pure athlete who gives them a new look especially with Nelson out. Maybe they learn for next season now to play him more often...STH family has been preaching that all year long lol.

...really happy for Fitzgerald. One guy I have rooted for since day 1. Hope he wins a SB before he calls it quits. And it's now been 5 years in a row GB has lost in the divisional round.

Current OT rules are fine. Before it was messed up when first point won which was all about getting in field goal range.

This is pretty much dead even in terms of fairness. Don't give up a TD and you'll get an offensive possession, it's that simple. If you do, plain and simple you gave up the big play and it's game over. Called overtime for a reason otherwise they'd make it a 5th quarter imo.

Why do you want a coin flip to be part of deciding the winner? This would be like a NHL shootout being first goal wins and using a coin flip to pick the team who shoots first. Don't give up a goal and you'll get a chance to shoot, it's that simple. If you do, plain and simple you gave up the big play and it's game over.

That example isn't at all similar. Shootouts are 1v1, a football play is 11v11. You aren't going to decide a game with 1 player (or 3) from each team, especially in the playoffs, which is why NHL playoff overtime is continuous until someone scores. There are plenty of opportunities for a defense to not give up a touchdown. Think of how many times in a game it happens. If they give up the field goal, or better yet get a stop, they give their team a chance to win.

As RR said, it is called overtime for a reason.

Around 20% of OT games end with a touchdown on the first drive. That's a significant enough percentage to have a minimum of one possession per team if you want the game to be decided on a fair basis.

If you don't like the hockey example, you can look at extra innings in baseball. What if they changed it so that first run wins and a coin toss is used to determine which team bats first instead of the usual away/home order.

I'm not a Green Bay fan, but it's now two years in a row they've been eliminated from the playoffs due to this rule. Think of all the time and effort put into the season to have it end like this. If you can easily make the OT rules more fair, why wouldn't you?

What I see there is that %20 of teams can't play defense when it matters most, not that they deserve another chance at it. 1 in 5 isn't very high to me. 4 in 5 would be more telling. As in 4 out of 5 teams that lose the coin have a chance to win the game. The coin flip only provides an advantage in OT, not the decision.
