kilgore
Rust is showing. How do they get a bi week to start the season?
Tom Sestito
Potential of the offense is clear. Can see how it can be effective. Game is over, please go to the caps game now though.
-DLC-
Travis was "off" all game...over throwing, but he'll reel it in then look out.
ShakyWalton
Rust is showing. How do they get a bi week to start the season? the WWC had a lot to do with it I think...I dont mind this loss to iron out the kinks..Lulay has looked pretty good and stayed healthy. and so has Manny and Collie...worried about Phillips though. Tom Sestito
WWC - same reason caps got kicked out. guess the cfl saw fit in us being the bi team because we wouldn't have home stadium available anyways. makes sense, but sucks.
RUPERTKBD
I see CFL officials still the same. Have only seen one single return not ever called back recently. It's as if they won't allow any kind of return of 5 yards or more. What a joke. The holding penalty was legit, but borderline. The problem is, that hold happens on virtually every return, so whether it gets called or not becomes arbitrary. The CFL makes a lot of noise about wanting to increase the excitement of the game. IMO, telling the zebras to let the borderline holding calls go would be a good start. Travis was "off" all game...over throwing, but he'll reel it in then look out. I wasn't surprised. As a former QB I can attest to how difficult it is to get back into a rhythm, after a long layoff. I went through a period where a shoulder issue forced me to switch from QB to receiver for two seasons. When the shoulder finally healed enough for me to throw, I found myself doing exactly what Travis did last night. You tend to overcompensate, thinking subconsciously that you have to put a little more zip on the ball, instead of just letting it go. It took me about a half season to get the feel back. I'm betting it takes a pro like Lulay a few games.

the last outlaw
Gonna be a long season for Lions. New coaching staff, most player turnover of any team in the league. Wally continues to ruin this team and needs to go. Lions like Canucks are in full rebuild mode.
RUPERTKBD
That holding call was a joke. I have a referee's certificate and I can attest that going strictly by the book, it was a hold. The factor that decides it in the mind of a ref is if the blocker's hands are "outside the shoulder pads", which it appears they were in that case. However, the rule is enforced arbitrarily in reality, as similar, or even worse infractions are often not called. As a referee, I don't make that call, because it was borderline and I'm an advocate of "let 'em play", but I can understand why the penalty was called. It's also important to note that as a football (and hockey) referee, I'm not typical. I play both sports as well and my experience is that people who get into officiating full time tend to take themselves and their responsibilities a bit too seriously and they tend to look for things to call, rather than call the things they see. Wally continues to ruin this team and needs to go. Lions like Canucks are in full rebuild mode. I dunno. The fact that Wally doesn't let loyalty get in the way of trying to put the best team he can on the field is one of the things I like about him. Collie looks like a solid pickup and I have faith that Buono will be able to surround Travis with enough talent to win. (Especially after the NFL cuts are made) The big question is how well Lulay is able to rebound after missing most of last season.
Grapefruits
Painful loss but I liked what I saw, lots of potential going forward. It's gonna take some time for the players to click with so many new players and a new system. If Lulay wasn't so rusty missing receivers the game would have been much different. Bruce Boudreau
Have a feeling it's gonna be a long year with a rookie kicker and no kickoff or punt returner. Special teams is a huge wildcard. First 4-5 games are extended pre-season for CFL anyways since they don't get a proper one only 2 games and the starters only play parts of 1 game. Real season starts after Labour Day like every year. Team that gets hot is more important usually then the team who jumps out and gets on a roll right away and peaks too early. Plenty of change will happen too if the running game, kicking, and return game continue to be stuck in neutral hopefully. Might need an American RB active on the roster. This whole 2 Canadian RB thing with Harris and the mini Shaq kid is still an experiment including going with a young kicker. Old Grandpa McCalum can still get it done and he will be looking for revenge the next 2 weeks to prove he can still play. Riders with Glenn and Chapdelaine as OC look really good. Would not be surprised if Lions start out year 0-3 at all. Edited July 6, 2015 by Chip Kelly

Grapefruits
How did the O line look? Overall, not at bad. Gave up 2 sacks. Better than last year I'd say, but it's a little hard to tell with BC going to the shotgun almost every play.
