CFL/BC Lions Thread

Shift-4

Recommended Posts

A new young QB and some incoming hopefully homegrown talent. I think the demise of the old Sports Page has hurt attendance a bit.

They used to cover the SFU and UBC and other Canadian university teams a lot better than TSN/Sportsnet. The casual fan had already heard of many of the players by the time they became Lions.

If you can't sell the present, sell the future. Who on this team, will become the number one running back in 3? years when Harris slows down?

Who will be the next QB sack master?

The incoming #1 receiver

Kick returner

and so on.

Sell me on the future and let the team grow from a bunch of guys I don't know to my team, my players.

I miss Bob Ackles.

One thing that is hurting attendance is the fact there are no blackouts anymore. Ackles even said that the blackouts were necessary to get more fans in the seat That and the Lions PR department is atrocious. I've gone without an account manager for over a month since mt last one moved on.

One thing I would like to see and I've told The Lions that it would help promote the game is to give Whitecaps season ticket holders a free ticket to a Lions game and give Lions season ticket holders a free ticket to a Whitecaps game. If not free, at least a serious discount. May get more fans in the stadium. They also need to do a better job with halftime shows. Currently we get a panel discussing the game. If I wanted to see this I'd watch the game at home.

I'm also over leaving the sails up like they do for Whitecaps games. It obstructs my view of the open roof.

Looks like my prediction is coming true. I said after the Riders lost their 5th game of the year, that they didn't have to worry as Labour Day was coming up and they would beat my Bombers yet again on the labour Day weekend... Sigh....

Lions needs to follow the Canucks lead (when they cleaned house with Gillis and Torts) and do the same and clean house with Wally and Tedford. Lulay has become Buck Pierce 2.0 There was talk if Lions had lost to Als that Tedford was going to be fired. There's still buzz that he'll be gone soon or at the end of the season. I find Tedford comes off as very arrogant.

B.C. Lions quarterback Travis Lulay has a grade-2 MCL sprain and is expected to be out of action for 3-6 weeks.

Lulay confirmed the news to Bro Jake and Dave Pratt on TSN Radio 1040 on Monday morning.

"It's been a bit sore and stuff but for this stage of what happened, it's doing alright," Lulay said.

"Typically, they say it's in the 3-6 week range for this kind of injury to heal up, so I'm hoping for the short end of that spectrum."

LaVance Taylor was the guy who got a contract with the Chiefs after he tweeted them his highlight video. I know nothing of the guy's play (outside of what I just watched from his own highlight video), but that's an amusing story if anything.

Mike Reilly sure looks great tonight. Wally sure screwed up letting him go.

I'm done with Lulay gets injured every year trade him to Ottawa or something.

He is useless without using his legs to scramble. He struggles when stationary and contained in the pocket. Weak arm strength after the injuries now. Trade him for a high pick and a couple of good Canadian starting players either on o-line or on d-line.

I would also explore trading Elimimian for all star Canadians on o-line.

@RoarReport "Terrelle Pryor waived by the Browns. He has no NFL PR eligibility left, has to go on the 53man roster. He is on #bclions neg list" #cfl

Pryor is no longer a qb he won't be coming to the CFL probably forever since he is willing to play wr and some team could keep him on the 53 if he is willing to use his size and speed on special teams and whatever else they ask him to do.

He is a tremendous athlete too good for any league athletic wise than the NFL. Him coming up here would have to be for a ton of money I think he is above the CFL.

Also I like Buono picking up Chris Rainey to spark the return game.

He is out of the NFL only because he is a woman beater not for a lack of talent.

Funny how desperate Buono is now. Before he rejected signing OCHOCINCO because of his violence against women arrest past and BC heavily promoting the BE more than a bystander stopping violence against women campaign.

But now Rainey is okay forget he was teammates with Riley Cooper, Aaron the cholo murderer Hernandez and Percy Headcase Harvin in college at Florida.

Oh and he was teammates with some qb named Tebow. Somehow those sinners got cleansed by Tebow and they won a national championship together in college.

Rainey making an immediate impact. Wow, he's exciting to watch. Love him.

He was the only good thing about today's game. Other than that it was another stinker. For me Tedford has worn out his welcome. He just isn't working out.

D gave it a valiant effort but you can't leave them on the field for over 40 minutes. You could just see they were out of gas.

On a side note. Next home game the Washington State Huskies Marching Band will be doing the halftime show. Looking forward for that one. At this rate, it might be the only exciting thing about the game.
