CFL/BC Lions Thread

Shift-4

Recommended Posts

Based off what I heard the biggest concerns for Lions are D line O line, RB and deep threat receiver.

Leone looks shaky and inconsistent kicking and punting at times which is concerning.

I also don't like how they gifted the #1 RB spot to Jermiah Johnson without giving Anthony Allen a legit chance to compete.

Guy is gonna turn 30 very soon anddoesnt have the speed or burst to break off big runs. Hopefully Buono realizes he is not the answer faster than he did with Jamal Robertson.

I miss the days the Lions actually had a feared running game with Stefan Logan and Martell Malett and Joe Smith.

Harris was always a much better receiver than pure runner for a rb.

I like this JC Coleman kid he is young and has some burst and quickness hitting the holes. He looks like a more powerful but less agile Yonus Davis.

Buono has been looking for that small quick and fast back ever since the days of Logan and Davis. Tim Brown was ok but a cut below those guys and nothing special.

Lions looking disinterested right about now...2 blocked punts..front line looks porous.allowed a few sacks...no running game again and Jennings has yet to impress anyone this year.

Defensive backs look good and I like the receiving corp...at least on paper..Ianucci is a starter..who is he replacing?

Big goal line stop...the defensive line seems good as well.

I am thinking the same. Really lucky to only be down 10

Poor Jennings.  This offensive line looks even worse than last year.  He's taking some really nasty hits so far.

Chris Rainey the bright spot to an otherwise poor game by the Lions. They need to be much better in Hamilton next week or they are going to get embarrassed again just like they did last year by Brandon Banks,Chad Owens, and company.

Hamilton looks pretty legit as a Grey Cup contender again this year even without Collaros to start the year.

They are beasts at home. Lions have to bring their A game all round to have a chance next week.

Lions have some ex Ticats like Brandon Stewart and Mike Edem in the secondary who should be excited to play their former team again.

The O-line and running game as a whole are still concerning. The Lions might need a more shiftier running back who is quicker and can make guys miss to create runs because sometimes the Lions young o-line still struggles whether pass or run blocking and Johnson and Allen tend to only get what is blocked.

The Lions arguably have not had a consistently good o-line the entire year other than 2011 when they last won the Grey Cup the line stayed healthy and was able to play at a high level with consistency for most of the year.

I like the schedule some good teams the Lions face early on they can measure themselves against to see where they stack up this year.

Pretty poor attendance for a home opener against divisional rival.  Only 21,386.  Attendance is going down as people seem to have lost interest in Lions.

Doesn't help when all games can be seen on High Definition TV big screens at home.

Is that what they are claiming the attendance was?  Didn't look like it to me.  Considering the Lions home record over the past 3 years, the attendance isn't surprising.  Gotta hand it to the Lions organization though.  They've greatly improved the street party over the past couple years.  Even the in stadium experience is better.  Though I sit in the lounge so I'm a little biased, but the service in the lounge has sucked big time in the past.  It's been great so far this season.

They should really keep the deal where kids under 12 get in for $5 bucks.

As for the game, Lions got lucky.  Wally better rip the punt team a new one, that was brutal! Win is a win though.  Lets see what changes Wally makes for next week.

Unfortunately, football is one of those sports that's like almost designed for the television audience.  Lots of stoppage between plays, where at home you have the opportunity to see replays from multiple angles, see more current stats, etc.

Hockey and soccer are more ongoing and free-flowing, thus you're constantly fixated on the game.  Baseball (North America) is also like a place to chill out while taking in a game.

If only the Lions can somehow do something like this...

That would be so cool.  Cheers for individual players, home team up on bat, etc., for the entire game (except the time when you gotta let the opposition fans a chance to cheer).

If the BC Lions can somehow create some rabid supporters section with chants that are family friendly, yet not too cheezy.

(Those girls in pink, they're serving you beer at your seats... and they're probably just in highschool.  Apparently teens selling/serving alcohol isn't such a big deal unlike over here)

It helps if you play entertaining football and have playmakers on offence to put up points last 4 years Lulay gets injured the oline cant block and there is no exciting running back or comsistent receiver.

Arceneaux only shows up once a month to play.

If it wasn't for Rainey or Jennings this team would be very difficult to watch .

As much as I like Big hill and Elimimian team 100...

D doesn't sell tickets the way offensive flair and scoring TDs do instead of field goals and singles.

Hopefully Buono plays the guys who are making plays and gives a chance to other guys when the oline or wrs or RB isn't producing.

I give them 3 more games before demanding changes and people start tuning out again. They better not play like that crap preseason effort again.

I thought Burnham had a solid game as well...
