CFL/BC Lions Thread

I went to the game last night, it was a good first half. 3rd quarter killed us not one 1st down. Too bad Darian got hurt, I think it would've been a win if he stays healthy.

The best was when that ref threw that flag on wally:lol:, then goes objectionable conduct coach.

Yeah, I saw the interview with Jones. What really had me shaking my head with the TSN Saskatchewan nut hugger, asking Durant if maybe the league should implement a suspension or fine for two roughing the passer penalties in one game.

Seriously?  :picard:

TSN is brutal when it comes to covering the Lions.  I was at the pub and didn't get the greatest look at the 2 roughing the passer hits, but they looked borderline to me. The one where Durant was injured looked to me like Brooks? was coming through the line as Durant threw the ball and was push and fell into him.  I'd have to see the play again though, but it didn't look malicious at all.

One was obvious and if there is any supplemental discipline to come, it will likely be because of that hit. He basically grabbed the facemask and used it as leverage to throw DD to the turf.

On the other one, I agree with your assessment. He seemed to be falling as he got to Durant and kind of rolled up on him. As a referee myself, I don't see how you could prove any intent on that play, although it's certainly possible that it was intentional.

I didn't catch the name of the TSN guy doing the interview, but it doesn't really matter. They all seem to have a hard on for the Riders.<_<

What a resilient win. The Lions offense looked pretty inept in the first half. Riders were sending the house on almost every play and the Lions didn't adjust. It was frustrating to watch as the Lions had no response for the Riders blitz. They weren't even disguising their blitzes. Literally lining up 8 guys in the box and playing cover 0, but the Lions were still running boring vanilla spread offense. Finally in the 2nd half we saw Khari Jones adjust and started using more tight end sets to slow down the blitz and give Jennings the extra second to throw. Riders finally were getting burned playing cover 0 with Gore scoring on a busted coverage. Kudos to Lumbala on making a great block on the play. They reward him with a run play on the next drive and even on a passing play later in the game.

Was talking more about the sack they challenged and won.  The face mask was definitely a penalty. Still think it was a garbage call.  Though Wally did challenge and win one later if I remember correctly.

Watching on PVR. Knowing the Lions are going to win this almost makes TSN watchable.

Costly TD celebration for Moore....

Nick Moore's season is over.

An MRI on the BC Lions receiver's knee revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament, ending Moore's season.

Moore injured his knee celebrating a touchdown in the Lions' 40-27 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday. After jumping to chest bump a teammate, Moore landed awkwardly and his knee appeared to buckle.

On Tuesday, Lions head coach Wally Buono said that it didn't look good for the Westerville, Ohio native.

TSN's Farhan Lalji reports that all other ligaments remained intact and the Lions expect Moore to make a full recovery for next season.

Through four games this year, the 30-year-old Moore has 15 receptions for 205 yards and one costly touchdown.

He'll be replaced in the lineup by Geraldo Boldewijn.

Sucks with TJ Lee gone for the year as well. Both very preventable.

Maybe the CFL needs to have NFL style celebration rules to protect players from themselves.

It wasn't even a crazy celebration, just a jumping chest-bump - with an unfortunately freak landing.

Andrew Harris rushed for 130 yards and a TD for Winnipeg as they downed the Eskies...I remember when the Lions had a run game..lol.

The last time the Lions had a real run game was with Joe Smith in 2007 who ran for for over 1500 yards. Before that it was probably Sean Millington. Both guys were downhill runners. Andrew Harris was never as good as those 2 guys as a pure runner. He was better used as a receiver for the QB when things were breaking down.
