To VAN: TJ Oshie, Kevin Shattenkirk To STL: Mason Raymond, Keith Ballard, Jordan Schroeder, 1st Pick (2013) They get a capable, tough forward that can play on the 2nd or 3rd line, and has great potential. They also receive an offensive defenseman who is heavy. These additions will add to the "younger and bigger" model that Gillis is talking about. Oshie grew up in Mt. Vernon, WA State cheering for the Canucks, and he will be as close to home as possible, pleasing him to work hard in the organization. They receive a young speedy winger, and speed is an area that they are short in. Raymond would perform well with a relatively physical team surrounding him, so he can play his north and south game without falling down, as he did with the Canucks. Ballard adds to their toughness and can be a great contributor on the power play and penalty kill. He is very capable of laying out big hits and playing on the second pairing. STL: Berglund or Stewart, Russell Van: Raymond, Ballard, 2014 1st Round Pick, 2013 2nd Round Pick or 3rd. If Berglund then 2nd, if Stewart then 3rd. Now your proposal looks better than before.
