Need help buying a laptop

Basically, I am a university student who is really cheap and needs a laptop simply to stream sports and use for homework/use a software for a class. What type of laptops would make most sense for me and which one do any of you folks recommend that is relatively cheap.

Any help is much appreciated because its 4 days before school starts and I still do not have one :sadno:

Love this one so far, compact and light with a huge HD. Battery life is moderate by todays standards, about 2 hours of watching videos.. however if you're word processing you can lean it out and get 4-5. It's also great if you're like me and still have alot of films on DVD as it has a disc drive. It also includes HDMI output, 2 x 3.0 USB and 1 x 2.0 USB and a media card reader. Overall great buy for the money

HP 15.6" AMD Quad-Core A6-3420M Laptop (G6-1D44CA) - Grey

Bought this laptop today for $349.99, with it I received a printer for $19.99 and also Windows 8 was $14.99.

I tested it out a little bit today and it is pretty awesome, I also bought it for University.

Ended up going with this bad boy.

Wanted to get an HP originally but my friends who know there tech stuff said that was a bad idea because HP is crap. Apparently Acer is one of the best laptops in terms of a bang for your buck.

Macbooks are not budget laptops BUT if you have the money, then they should at least be given some consideration. Obviously, they're not for everyone but my macbook has been great. I bought it 6 years ago and the only thing i had to change was the battery and the charger. No antivirus, no other software (that i paid for). Still runs great and looks slick. I paid 1500 back in 2006. Waiting for this one to breakdown before i get a replacement.

OP, since you're going for a budget laptop, i like the deal futureshop has going on the hp for 350. seems like it's exactly what you're looking for. Even if it breaks down, you arent losing too much.

edit: lol just noticed now you already got the acer. Looks decent.
