The Winnipeg Jets would like to welcome defenceman Mark Fayne to our organization. We think that Mark will be a very solid contributor now and for years to come on the back end. While he fell out of favour in New Jersey, Mark is now presented with another chance to make it work in the NHL, and he comes into a great situation where he has a spot waiting for him in the Jets starting lineup. We would also like to wish Dean Suter, one of our 2013 draft picks, the best of luck in his development as a prospect. We drafted him thinking he could become a great NHL player one day, and I am confident he has the abilities to do so in the New Jersey organization.

The Colorado Avalanche have agreed to terms with their Division Rivals, the San Jose Sharks.

To Colorado:

Marc-Eduard Vlasic ($4.2m)

Logan Couture ($2.8m)

To San Jose:

Matt Duchene (3.875m)

Colorado 2014 1st Round Pick

NY Islanders 2014 2nd Round Pick

This will also allow San Jose to be cap compliant, as the CPU had Couture in the minors.

I'm still curious on the explanation, since people seem behind vetoing it. Duchene is younger, the same potential, and already better than Couture. So, Logan is nearer to the end of his development, and is still worse. Vlasic for a 1st and a 2nd wouldn't be vetoed, and you still have to take into consideration that I'm due a bit back from Duchene being better. I'd like to hear the case for veto, because I left those negotiations feeling like I overpaid.

It seemed logical that they'd be in with the Californias, instead of with the Western Canadas. It's a stupid alignment of divisions, but then again Winnipeg is still in the Southeast so I guess this is a minor oversight in the grand scheme of things.
