The reason is to fight obesity.

goalie13
So how is this going to work? So many places are self-serve. You are allowed to get a 16+ oz Diet Coke, but not a 16+ oz Coke. Are the cashiers supposed to taste your drink to see which one you dispensed? What's next? Outlaw large pizzas? No more than 12 wings per order? You're not allowed to order dessert if you haven't finished your vegetables?

pimpcurtly
Pop should be a banned substance. People obviously can't help themselves.

Hobble
You guys aren't seeing the big picture! Instead of getting a 32oz soft drink, they will now be getting 16oz soft drinks and have to get up and walk to refill it again! That calorie-burning walk is quite a trek for some of the customers who are accustomed to Big Gulps.
Dragonfruits
people will just get a 2nd drink not going to stop people from drinking insane amount of pop (i too am guilty of drinking way too much pop) also does this include 7-11 which has some of the most ridiculous pop and slurpee sizes
ronthecivil
This reminds me of a good story from my youth... My friend at the bar... "Can I get four quadruple zombies?" "No" "Why not" "We can't serve quadruples." "Ok then, can I get eight double zombies and four large glasses?" "Sure" "What, do you hate your dishwasher?" Heretic
Can you still get a 64 oz big gulp? Super sized drinks and fries? All you can eat buffets?
Jägermeister
What a stupid law. Still nothing to stop people from going to Costco and getting a flat of 64 cans and going to town. This will achieve nothing.
