JimLahey
So this is what I came up with reading another person's proposal. It is reliant on Burke and Snow viewing their firsts as expendable, which the most likely will not. To VAN: Calvin de Haan NYI 2013 First Round Pick To NYI: Alex Edler VAN 2013 Second Round Pick -- To TOR: Roberto Luongo To VAN: Carl Gunnarsson TOR 2013 First Round Pick Instead of Gunnarsson, add value and trade for JM Liles instead. -- CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER My Custom Lineup FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m) David Booth ($4.250m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Mason Raymond ($2.275m) Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) Dale Weise ($0.615m) / Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Aaron Volpatti ($0.600m) / Andrew Ebbett ($0.600m) / DEFENSEMEN Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) Carl Gunnarsson ($1.325m) / Jason Garrison ($4.600m) Keith Ballard ($4.200m) / Chris Tanev ($0.900m) Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) / GOALTENDERS Cory Schneider ($4.000m) Eddie Lack ($0.750m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $61,260,000; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $8,940,000 Personally, I would do these trades and I think they are fair for both teams. It just depends if Burke and Snow would want significantly more for their firsts. Why? NYI: They aquire a defenceman to replace Streit as their offensive defenceman in the future, and they have the money to throw at Edler. They do have decent depth of young guys and prospects so a second could increase that as much as a first could, depending on their pick. TOR: Obviously, they get the bonafide starting goaltender they need in order to make a playoff push VAN: They downgrade on defence with Gunnarsson or Liles, but the depth that will be acquired through the draft will replace that. Defensive prospects: de Haan, Connauton, Tanev, McNally, Corrado, Sauve, McEneny. NYI's pick could be high enough to pick Monahan or Ristolainen, TOR's could get us a guy like Rychel, Domi, Morrissey, etc. Flame away.
CanucksFanMike
i wouldn't do the first deal, although if we must trade Edler then this would be one I would consider. the second one i would do but Burkie says no
Smashian Kassian
No to both. I think Edler is worth more in the 1st one. And I dont see Gunnarsson as anything special and I think Burke would want to keep the pick.
eretz canucks
I'd do Edler and Raymond for Hamonic and a first, This is better value and let's be honest Raymond may do decent on long island, that team needs all the NHL players they can get
shawn antoski
you just made the team worse
kanucks1
NO! makes the team way worse.
JimLahey
Obviously it makes the team worse, but with there more than likely being no season and Edler potentially asking for too much, this trade would make sense since the draft is very deep and de Haan is a good prospect. Tortorella's Rant
I'd do Edler and Raymond for Hamonic and a first, This is better value and let's be honest Raymond may do decent on long island, that team needs all the NHL players they can get
Dion Phaneuf
Don't like either trade that much, meant for rebuilding teams IMO.
eretz canucks
Edler and Raymond for Hamonic is a bit undervalue maybe, but: I hate Raymond and he is dead weight I prefer to resign the eagle but Gillis hinted that he wants too much Edler has 1 yr left Hamonic Is a top 3 D man and is really young That 1st rounder could be the number 1 overall pick, at worst it's top 7 Canucks need youth
