Special Ed
She spent 300k and lost that's why this is an issue. Yet if she had won then its a non-issue. So she basically is trying to increase her odds to 100%. So if she wins then I can sue her for unfairly taking back my potentially lost revenue from when I was gambling too. Lets all go file lawsuits against each other.
Mr. Ambien
Hopefully that province can put her on some type of addictive probation to clean the roadsides of litter and make her addiction more of a use to society (1 in 10,000,000 pieces of litter is a winner!) rather than clogging up courts with frivolous s*** like this. Phil_314
Totally agree with the point of not blaming others for not having self-control and losing it all. Also, good thing she doesn't need the money, otherwise if she did she may have had to apply for welfare, and frankly scarce resources of that kind do not deserve to go to someone like her-- what if she gambles that off too? Kryten
Lets put it this way, she has nothing to lose and all to gain. If she wins , she will win money, not sure how much. If hse loses shes still a broke ass. Actually if she wins, she will gamble it all away, be a broke ass, and spend it all again. It's worth a try, but a pathetic attempt. Jägermeister
So she goes from quitting gambling in casinos to gambling in BC courts? I wonder if she will be denied the settlement regardless of the decision due to her self-exclusion. Will she then sue her lawyer and the BC government? A never-ending cycle of stupidity? :D
I wouldn't liken it to suing a tobacco or alcohol provider, as those have legitimate health concerns associated with them. Money is merely material. It would be closer to bring up a lawsuit against a video game company for all the time you have spent playing their game, after signing a legal contract saying that you were going to stop. hsedin33
Good luck proving that. When I worked in Casinos, I knew many of the regulars and it didn't mean that I would recognize them from a database of thousands. Some Casinos employees are great with faces and often pick people off a the door, some aren't. Signing up for this agreement does not, in any way, make the Casino responsible for stopping you from gambling. It's that the Casino will make efforts to try and identify you and escort you out. You're completely off base.
Tystick
Like others have stated, it's not their fault. If she wants to gamble her money away that's her choice, why would they try to stop her lol
RonMexico
What a crock. How about suing your family and friends for being enablers too?
uber_pwnzor
So you wouldn't care if you had cancer, as long as you had the billion dollars in the bank? You should ask Steve Jobs if Money>health.
aGENT
This is going to end up with everyone entering a casino needing to be screened and your ID scanned just like at night clubs, isn't it....?

Dogbyte
How is it their fault? She knew she was in this program. She knew even if she did win she couldn't keep the money. Good on her for trying to curb her addiction, but she shouldn't be blaming other people for her failure to do so.
goalie13
It becomes a legal issue as soon as the casino has the right to withhold any jackpots that you may have won. They will look the other way when you give them your money, but when its time to pay you, they refuse? No, its a two way street, the casino cant take your money and refuse to give you winnings. If they participate in the aspect of not paying out, then they should be held responsible for also taking your money. The Casino chose to participate in this program just as much as the people did, therefore the casino shares responsibility.
goalie13
It's similar to serving to much alcohol at the bar and someone drives home and kills thenselves. There definitely has been precedent set and could easily go to trial.
