Captain America : The Winter Soldier

10/10, My favorite superhero. Lots of plot twists, and the action sequences are well done.

Watched it when it first came out, so I may be forgetting it, but what plot twists were there? Because I honestly do not remember any?

Very glad you liked it. Whenever someone asks me now if I have seen any good movies lately, all I mention is "Take Shelter" and tell them it is a must watch. So far, not one person has come back to me saying that I overhyped it. The emotion that Shannon and Chastain conveyed was mesmerizing. And I really can't remember the last film I watched where the chemistry between an onscreen husband and wife was as authenticate as it was in "Take Shelter." After one viewing, and I've seen it 3 times now, I quickly vaulted it into my Top 10 list.

Yes, "Take Shelter" is an exceptional movie, I would also recommend it for everyone.

Yep, Take Shelter is very good.

I also want to state my opinion that Melissa McCarthy and her movies are not funny, Bridesmaids chief among them. I rented it thinking it was going to be good considering Kristen Wiig was in it (who I think can be funny) and it was getting some very good reviews.

It was not a clever movie in the least and I don't remember laughing once. I love goofy comedies (Step Brothers, Walk Hard, Hot Rod, There's Something About Mary) but this movie did nothing for me. I just now rewatched the supposedly "funniest" scenes from the movie on youtube and they are just not funny. I can't believe this movie actually got nominated for two oscars.

I may have exaggerated, but only 2 come to mind. When you find out who "He" is, and when you find out about Hydra.

Hangover Part 3 - 5.5/10

Was better than the second. It had no reason to exist, and wasn't particularly funny, but it's not exactly as if I found the first one to be hilarious either, so I don't think they ran something great into the ground here. It was run into the ground all the same though.

Still hate Zach Galiafinakis. Don't think he was funny here. Never thought he was funny, ever. Though I lol'd in that long, pointless scene he had with Melissa McCarthy. Not because anything funny was happening, but I had to stop to comment on the meeting of these two comedic juggernauts on screen. It was as if they actively searched my mind for the two least appealing actors they could have and threw them out there. That their scenes happened to suck was not a coincidence.

TopGun - Does a good job of setting a tone, gives you a sort of appreciation for what fighter pilots do, a great movie for jet/military buffs, and is a classic that deserves that creditation. 9.5/10

Zero Dark Thirty - Like how it weaves contemporary events, gives great insight into events leading up to the capture of obl and the ruthlessness of seal team 6. Although they did miss out on the training leading up to the raid, the president/staff watching it live from the situation room, and seemed to depict the verification process as a visual check and not a dna check like it was in real life, nor did they include the part where they brought the body onto a u.s.warship and the subsequent disposal of the body. Nonetheless, espionage/military buffs will have a good time with it, though the explicit depiction of torture might turn some off. 8.5/10.

Edit: Forgot to name the movies, thanks to the individual who pointed that out!

the amazing spiderman 2 5/10

- They butchered Norman Osborne's character

- Harry's transformation into the villain felt forced (at least we saw 3 movies of development in the original trilogy)

- Elektro hated Spider man because...? I seriously don't know why he hates him so much. Writers were probably like "he looks evil so thats good enough for us".

- The Rhino... wtf.

It helps when you name the films. I can tell what the second one is.

Escape Plan - 6.5/10

When you would've thought of a movie where Arnold and Sylvester get together, it would have a lot more of a bang to it, rather than quiet contemplation. But I saw the Expendables 2, and I'll take this over that one any day, lol.

The random as hell casting on the whole knocks the rating up a bit. Was watching Holly Flax and 50 cent try and track down Sylvester Stallone. Among other amusing scenarios. That has to count for something. I'm not mistaking it for good acting or anything.

Need for Speed 4/5

Despite the gloriously cheesy ending, I was pleasantly surprised to feel like I was actually in a video game for almost the entirety of the movie - with the only exception being the "love interest" hottie British chick played by the gorgeous Julia Maddon

Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) goes from meth dealer to under ground racer - i really don't know what more you could ask from an action flick... the plot was more then acceptable, the stunts were beautiful and the driving was insane. If I was sober, I'd definitely download and burn it to add to a DVD collection

Also - Michael Keaton almost stole the show

Guardians of the Galaxy 9/10

Hilarious, action, intense... It had everything!

Was hoping for an Avengers 2 post credit scene, but was glad they included the duck lol

i agree. went and saw it today and i love the animation and everyone played their part well. the guy who does merle on the walking dead was just like his character on that show as he was in the movie, which i liked; he did it well. the movie had a lot of laughs, like, i was really cracking up at some parts-- especially with dave bautista's performance as drax, and then there were the feels

it's nice to go and see a movie to have fun and thats what i got. didn't see it in 3d, prolly didn't miss much-- same movie, different gimmick

Say Anything: 6/10

I'm a dude stuck in chick flick mode right now. Don't hate. As far as the movie goes, I really hate John Cusack, therefore every movie he makes is a minus 1 off the bat. I just don't think his character was believable in this film. That acting was pretty average all around, and the story was above average at best. I was pretty disappointed since this movie is on pretty much any top 25 or top 50 romance movie list ever made. Meh.

Iron man 3. 3/10. No substance, not engaging, forgettable story/characters, and definitely the worst out of the three.

Lord of War - 6.5/10. Mildly entertaining, interesting take on the arms trade, had a breaking bad-esque feeling to it. The actor that played the interpol agent didn't look convincing though.
