D-Money
Say Anything: 6/10 I'm a dude stuck in chick flick mode right now. Don't hate. As far as the movie goes, I really hate John Cusack, therefore every movie he makes is a minus 1 off the bat. I just don't think his character was believable in this film. That acting was pretty average all around, and the story was above average at best. I was pretty disappointed since this movie is on pretty much any top 25 or top 50 romance movie list ever made. Meh. How can anyone "really hate John Cusack"? Just accept him for what he is. PS. - Better Off Dead is the shiz!
Spoderman
Was deciding between either North by Northwest or Transformers to watch tonight. I then decided that I didn't want to become a vegetable after watching a film, so North by Northwest it is. Review to come tomorrow. Watching Transformers and listening to KK Rev >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

aliboy
I Am Legend (2007): Second time seeing this film, but watched the alternate ending this time. I don't really have a preference for either one, but I liked the idea of the species' evolution, I guess. Original ending was definitely more theatrical, though. Decent action thriller, but I wished they focused more on the virus itself. Will Smith was good in the film. His character's past life wasn't touch on enough, but I'll let it go. Its special effects are quite good. B- 7.5/10 I didn't know there was an alternate ending.
Monty
I didn't know there was an alternate ending. There's a "Michael Bay Extreme Explosion" ending, and a "Perfectly fine that doesn't ruin the entire movie" ending. Monty
Multiple "mini" reviews. Rear Window - 8/10 Continued my "Hitchcock-athon" and watched Rear Window about 4 days ago. Not as good as I remembered, but I was also coming off Vertigo, so inevitably I will start comparing to other Hitchcock films. Still a very good film and a terrific premise. Must watch for everyone, especially those that have brutal taste in movies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The To Do List - 5.5/10 Aubrey Plaza's latest "joint." Not awful, but not a must watch. Slightly above average. Long story short, Aubrey Plaza plays a recent high school grad in 1993, who is also a virgin. Her two friends convince brainy Aubrey that she must do as much sexually as she possibily can before going away to college. Great supporting cast, which keeps things entertaining/interesting, so things never get too dull. Definitely has it's chuckle moments. Nothing laugh out loud funny, but the things you chuckle at are often enough to string together a watchable, yet forgettable film. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- North by Northwest - 10/10 To me, and to many others, Hitchcock's best film. While Vertigo is absolutely fantastic and grim due to its ending, North by Northwest is the spy/action/thriller film that is a thrill ride from start to finish. During my marathon of Hitchcock films, there are quite a few I will avoid altogether; notably Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Trouble with Harry, Frenzy, and Topaz. Next up is Strangers on a Train, which has always been battling it out with North by Northwest for my favourite Hitchcock film. Such a tough choice when narrowing them down, because he has so many gems, especially Vertigo. Edited August 8, 2014 by Monty
The Bookie
Yeah, I know Vertigo is the one the critics fawn over the most, and it is fantastic, but North by Northwest is my fav. Something about that intersection between Grade A film making and fast paced, entertaining story that I wish happened more often. I'm not a Hitchcock expert though, far as I remember I've only seen the 'big 4' (Vertigo, NxNW, Psycho, The Birds). Speaking of which, what's the deal with The Trouble With Harry? A friend who's watched a lot more Hitchcock swears by that as his favorite - it's a bit different isn't it, one of his only comedies?

A friend who's watched a lot more Hitchcock swears by that as his favorite - it's a bit different isn't it, one of his only comedies? The problem with "The Trouble with Harry" is that it isn't very good. There are Hitchcock films I do not compare to the rest of his catalogue, and "The Trouble with Harry" is one of them. Instead, I compare it to other comedies released in the 40s/50s/60s. And when comparing it to those, it is absolutely forgettable and quite dull. Hitchcock is fine when he incorporates humour into his movies, but outright comedies are not his forte.
Down by the River
Blue Jasmine: 9/10 Cate Blanchett, Woody Allen direction + Woody Allen soundtrack, and a great supporting cast, especially Bobby Cannavale as Chili, made this movie very enjoyable. Didn't get to pay close attention as I was working simultaneously, but Cate Blanchett transitioned seamlessly between upper east-sider and DTES-er. Down by the River
are you familiar with woody's other stuff? Down by the River
Bridesmaids: Turned it off/10. Found the interactions between Wiig and Byrne to be too uncomfortable. Not my type of humor, made me cringe and turn the sound off. Don't know why I started watching it in the first place.

Monty
Strangers on a Train - 10/10 Along with North by Northwest, my favourite Hitchcock film. Long story short, two strangers meet, swap stories of difficult people in their lives, and one comprises a perfect murder plot to kill each other's person. Thus, having a stranger do you biznatch. Bure1994Mclean
Guardians of the Galaxy - 9/10. It's been hyped up as a must see and it certainly lived up to it. Coming in I had the lowest of expectations and expected it to be a comedy/complete joke and a side project of marvel's but it was anything but and far exceeded my low expectations. The movie certainly has created a great new universe for marvel with the intergalactic environments showcased here in the movie. But what impressed me even more was the character development. I won't spoil too much, but Groot although speaking very little expressed as much as the other characters in speech and had his share of touching moments that this movie had a lot of interspersed throughout the movie. Draxx's dealings with metaphors was hilarious, which honestly one of the movie's greatest qualities; I found myself and others watching laughing many times throughout the movie. Also, in addition to Groot, the other character you'll surely instantaneously fall in love with is Rocket the raccoon, I mean who doesn't love a raccoon with attitude?
