GLASSJAW
not a movie, but i'm finally caught up with Mad Men. easily a 10 for me. not the best show of all time, but certainly among them and certainly extremely enjoyable and unique love it. can't wait for the final episodes ;(
D-Money
/\ Never got into it, but looking for a new show, so maybe I'll start. I love coming late to the party, and having a ton of fresh material to get into on demand. I recently watched all of Breaking Bad for the first time. Pretty much same assessment: easily a 10 for me. not the best show of all time, but certainly among them and certainly extremely enjoyable and unique ...only I'd spell and punctuate it better. GLASSJAW
mad men is really fantastic. some serious melodrama at times, but i loved almost every minute of it. some seriously great characters in that show. you may love it! now i need a new show as well. nothing out there that's catching my fancy. may try The Knick, but that one doesn't permit binge watching. Dral
Season 1 and 2 of Mad men is fantastic.... the rest is just the same old same old - not even worth it... seriously, watch a season - then don't bother with the rest... it never gets taken to the next level

Dral
not really sure what you mean by this. takes it to the next level? what shows take it to the next level after 2 fantastic seasons? BSG, The Wire, Black Adder, OZ.... other stuff from BBC and prolly HBO I'm currently to drunk to remember and list off... like bob said, GoT.... not many do... the juries still out on a few... not gonna lie, I absolutely lose interest in most series after 2 or 3 seasons because its the same old stick - but Mad Men is definitely one of them... there's only so much of "oh look at me, I'm drunk and coming up with witty one liners for companies to advertise with" before it gets boring. Honestly, I've watched 4 seasons and most of 5 and 6 and after the first 2, I couldn't tell you what season a specific episode came from if I re-watched it... that to me, means it doesn't have staying power. Like I said, definitely watch a season or two, but after that, you're wasting your time Edited August 22, 2014 by Dral

I found it really engaging from start to finish Just for clarification, you did watch all 7 seasons of Mad Men, correct? I found it really engaging from start to finish Just for clarification, you did watch all 7 seasons of Mad Men, correct? BSG = Battlestar Galactic - the reboot... you should definitely check it out. It's like a soap opera for guys. Other then Olmos and McDonnell there were no legit actors in it. People will look at it an say "oh it's just sci fi", but if you actually like character driven shows, you'll love it. I'd classify it as a drama series set in outer space before I'd say it's sci fi. and no - I muscled my way through 6 seasons (4, then the last 2 on and off) before I gave in and got hooked on others (The News Room mainly comes to mind)
Dral
As for GoT - at least they have the decency to kill main characters off every now and then on top of throwing in plot twists and keeping you guessing about whats going on. I know your sig is all about mad men, so you obviously love it and I don't want to diss it too much... but personally, I bored after a couple seasons. Check out BSG, at least the 2 hr long pilot hehe, you won't regret it
Dral
shizz.... I was part way through watching a movie I really wanted to rate here or ya'll.... but all this BSG talk has made me close it down and go back to the beginning. I feel like all of this has happened before and all of this will happen again
g_bassi13
Muppets Most Wanted - 6/10 It wasn't so bad, but it was just kind of there. Nothing special, nothing to hold me (outside of a couple of catchy musical numbers.) There was little comedic timing and presence, outside of Tina Fey's performance. No one whiffed, but like the rest of the movie, were just kind of there. That's how the whole thing was. Though I guess Ty Burell's running gag about European work hours and all made me lol pretty hard.

Mad Men had two major deaths (one by pretty dramatic means, no less!), and a handful of small ones, too. and I wouldn't be surprised if Draper kills himself by the end. but none of that really matters. you are totally correct in saying it's more or less the same thing throughout. the agency grows, and everyone gets drunk. the agency shrinks, then everyone gets drunk. repeat repeat. i do think the fact that the shifting in personalities and tone is pretty important though, and i enjoy that I wasn't as crazy about Breaking Bad as others were (I did really like the first couple of seasons and the end, though). And I do think GoT is mostly a bunch of shells walking around waiting to die, I just much prefer the slow burn of Mad Men to GoT's plot-shock factor I need a new show, so I can check out BSG, but no promises. I really have a weird aversion to things set in space. It's totally irrational, but I have the same issue with shows and movies based around the police. Just don't seem to enjoy them very much

Just don't seem to enjoy them very much LoL - 2 deaths... I really don't mean this laugh in a belittling way what-so-ever, so I hope you don't take it that way... but 2 is nothing.... GoT's kill ratio is ridiculous and over the top, and the series that I seem to get drawn to kill at least 2 main characters a season - Rome, Deadwood, The Wire... basically anything by HBO I really hope you check out BSG - and make sure to watch the webisode movies/series between each season... and seriously, after watching the pilot, send me a PM... And don't worry about it being set in space- it's absolutely 100% a human drama series that could just as easily be shot under the ocean as opposed to in the galaxy. Like I said, it's NOT sci fi - it's a soap opera for dudes. Not men.... dudes.... It's also the epitome of "taking it to the next level" after every season... at the end of the 1st you're like woah, crazy... at the end of the 2nd you're like wtf just happened, at the end of the 3rd you're speachless... at the end of the 4th, you're crying... (not gonna lie, I actually cried for the series finale - then pored out a drink for The Galactica and toasted everyone else who died)
Monty
Dial M for Murder - 9/10 Hitchcock film, again. For a film where 99% of it takes place in a single room, it really is terrific. Very bold move to try this film in the first place, as it is based off of a play. Not that movies based off of plays don't translate well onto the screen, but considering that the setting is one room, then it is even more important for the actors and the writing to be in top form. Though starring Grace Kelly, her performance is pretty much an afterthought, as the entire film hinges on Ray Milland's performance. He absolutely knocked this role out of the park. Absolutely incredible how he is virtually one step ahead of everyone, and how comfortable he is in "playing along" with the investigation. Not my favourite Hitchcock film, but it is definitely worth watching. Edited August 22, 2014 by Monty

Season 1 they are just small time. Season 2 they are trying to run the whole show. Better Call Saul introduced. Jane plotline. Season 3 they are working for Gus. Hank battle. Gale plotline. Season 4 starts off slow, but finishes fantastic. In fact, I'd say from the time they go to Mexico up to the last episode of season 5 are the strongest episodes of the series. ...Don't really want to get into details, for anyone who hasn't seen it.
