KassianBeastMode
Boyhood was amazing. Don't know if I ever have or ever will give a perfect 10/10 except maybe for a documentary, but I'll go as near as possible with 9.75. I've never left a fictional film so invested in the characters, and I don't know that something like this will ever be made again. I've read that Lars von Trier started a similar project but eventually gave up. Loved the throwbacks to his past films too. The part where they're in the 24hr diner and there's a guy rambling to himself in another booth seemed to nod to a couple scenes from Slacker. Oh! And the scene where the drunk stepfather gets them to go cash his cheque - the clerk was the same actor who sells the underage Mitch beer in Dazed and Confused, getting a little cheer from me. Just a one of a kind masterpiece all around. I'm glad I waited to watch this, the timing is nice heading into the 'awards season' of the year. The oscars are still pretty conservative so I don't think this will get a BP nomination, but Linklater may finally get his first directing nomination, and depending on what happens I really think Patricia Arquette could win for supporting actress. She was outstanding. Also I got to see previews for two others I've been looking forward to, Birdman and Whiplash, together with Gone Girl there's a lot to look forward to the next few months. thanks for this, i hadn't heard of it till now and just checked out the reviews/trailer etc...does look to be a must see as I am a big film buff! The Bookie
No, but again aside from documentaries, movies will never produce crying from me. Books yes. I had that old 'walk out of the theater and see all the familiar world in a different light', the last time I remember that was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Toews
Guardians of the Galaxy - 7/10 Good movie, I liked the characters and they implemented the story quite well. I agree with the person above that is a 1 time watch only. Blended - 2/10 Awful in every way possible. It was made to be a comedy movie but was never funny and was sexist as well as racist. The quality of Adam Sandler's movies continues to decline. My rating is actually generous considering it was 2 hours I will never get back. Twilight Sparkle
zombie ass: toilet of the dead i'm just gonna give it a 7/10 because 1) it's on netflicks 2) didn't have subtitles on and didn't know what the **** i was watching 3) i've watched enough japanese horror movies to pick up that this was a comedy and not a horror film 4) fan service if you're drunk or stoned enough to watch something at 1am, check this dirty horror show out

GLASSJAW
life itself: 7/10 ebert's brand of "everyman" criticism certainly wasn't my cup of tea in life, and this movie didn't really change that, despite how it highlighted the man's importance to the movie world. not like i think his work deserves a re-evaluation now, or something the movie is sort of like a eulogy, even though he's alive throughout most of it. and i dunno if i really found his life story to be as larger-than-life as they tried to make it, and i didnt find his "everyman"-ness all that interesting, either. but the movie was really touching and sad during the parts about the battle with cancer. well made doc, quite sad at times. but nothing to write home about
goal-ghost
Frank 7/10 There was lots to like about this movie. It was funny and lighthearted while managing to broach some solemn stuff. The music was predominantly performed by the cast; Fassbender had a couple of really nice takes. It falters a bit from character action and dialogue that comes off a bit contrived. Even with that bit of clumsiness I'd still recommend it. Monty
Fast and Furious (#4) - I stopped watching/10 Wife and I put it on yesterday and I left after 35 minutes or so. Just brutal. My wife and I have been mocking a ton of films lately (Fast 5 and Fast 6, No Holds Barred, Crank 2, any Nic Cage movies), but this was really just bad. Adaptation and Raising Arizona are the shiz - the latter being one of my favourite movies. Also Moonstruck, Leaving Las Vegas, Lord of War...lots of good ones. But yeah, when Cage is not good, he's soooooooo bad.

It was a bad movie, but it picks up a lot towards the end in terms of excitement. For me it was half of a watchable movie, unlike 5, which was unwatchable on the whole. GLASSJAW
D-Money and Monty, you two are the only two people I have heard/seen say the word "the shiz" in like 10 years. I'm starting to suspect you're the same person
Spoderman
If a film can't make Nic Cage entertaining, there's something wrong. Wicker Man and Vampire's Kiss GOAT

The Bookie
It's funny, I've still never sat down and watched the Nic Cage Wicker Man but I feel like I have for all the youtube clips and people quoting it. The original is legitimately creepy.

I've always thought that he would do well in a Paul Thomas Anderson film, who was able to make Adam Sandler appear like a capable actor. It's too bad all he's known for now is "Nic Cage will take bees in the face for money."
