D-Money
Finally got around to watching 12 Years a Slave. Not much to say that hasn't already been said. Really well made, top notch acting and fantastic story...but depressing as hell. 9/

g_bassi13
Edge of Tomorrow - 9/10 Rating doesn't even reflect how much I loved this thing. I know most people wouldn't react the same to watching this as I have, but I'm already certain that this is one of my favourite Sci-Fi movies of all time. Maybe second next to Blade Runner even. Absolutely, Positively in love with this thing. Maybe an 8-8.5/10 in terms of actual quality, but a 10/10 in my <3.
Mr. Ambien
22 Jump Street -- 6/10. Good thing I didn't pay to see this in theatres. Jonah Hill is pretty much the same comic relief act in every film, and Tatum, a non-comedy actor, was much funnier than him. November and December are going to be good months -- at least 5 movies (Dumb and Dumber To, Hunger Games, Horrible Bosses 2, Night at the Museum, Hobbit) at the theatres, but evidently Hunger Games is not going to be in IMAX from what I keep reading -- so the only of those films we get to enjoy in IMAX will be the Hobbit. The Bookie
Hurt Locker - 8.5 Only watched it once before and didn't remember much. It's a good war movie, like most it's got the vague start and end with loose chaotic aimless plotpoints. But I'm surprised it won bp. Not a strong year for movies though, a quick glance back and maybe I'd say Inglorious Basterds.
The Bookie
and I watched House of the Devil last night. Did a good job of slow, old-school tension horror. The ending/scare payoff was ... not disappointing, but a little underwhelming. Felt like I missed some crucial underlying plot point related to the eclipse? 6.
g_bassi13
X-Men: Days of Future Past - 7.5/10 Thought the future storyline was ass, from the way the situation manifested itself, to just how it was physically represented. There was a massive and uninteresting leap it took, and I just felt left out of that supposed progression. The decent aspect of it being the sort of cameos you got from past actors actually acting out their previous roles. That itself was nice. I was initially pretty cold on the 70's storyline too, as I wasn't exactly hoping for a sequel to First Class, as much as I thought it was pretty decent. Though the movie won me over as it progressed. I think they tied together the convoluted present storyline well with the past one. Just the ultimate resolution of it all made this movie worth while. It set up the next sequel as best as it possibly could have. Just the idea of getting to see a proper follow up to X-2, more than a decade after everything became a mess... It's nice. I really, really liked X-2. I think this is the best way I've seen of doing a reboot. Giving it a clean slate by wrapping everything up, instead of ripping it apart. I hope they get as much of the characters and actors from the past signed up for this as they can. That will have me lining up on opening day. GLASSJAW
how to train your dragon 2: 4/10 lmao reminded me of a mega budget version of the lion king, just without the heart. they even had the Rafiki quirky shaman character come up to the kid at the end and smear some weird sh*t on his forehead. not to mention the whole dead father, taking control of the herd, etc. aspects nearly 2 hours of explosions, dragons flying around and swooping over and over and over maybe 2 or 3 jokes that an adult would find funny didn't like this at all very impressive visuals though
D-Money
Baby Mama - 5/10 A little more interesting/funny than I remembered it (maybe because my wife and I had a baby since). But still a letdown, considering the cast and writers. Not nearly as funny as a good episode of Parks and Recreation - or any episode of 30 Rock. nuckin_futz
and if you enjoyed Sideways, check out Barney's Version. now that is a totally under-appreciated movie starring Giamatti and Dustin Hoffman, based on Mordecai Richler's story of the same name totally flew under the radar. I thought it was fantastic Barney's Version 8.5/10 Glass, Thank you very much for your recommendation of Barney's Version. I watched it last night and it was very impressive. Giamatti's performance was off the charts. That was easily Best Actor territory and he was ignored, such a pity. Rosamund Pike was tremendous as were Hoffman and Driver. What a great story. What a great story. i have recommended it to about 20 people and you are the ONLY one who has watched it, as far as i know. this is a moment of validation for me. i started to wonder if maybe the movie does suck and i was wrong. i think the trailer totally gives the wrong impression that it's a tacky rom com or something. i found it pretty depressing and moving, to be honest. i should give it another watch and definitely agree about Giamatti Edited September 26, 2014 by GLASSJAW

Yeah, I'd have to put 'Baby Mama' probably around the 2.5-3/10 range. Not even worth watching (which is anything 5+/10). Like you said, more "huh" than "haha". As for 30 Rock? It blows. I thought Fey would have done some of the writing. Steve Martin's character was absolute horses%&t. Of course, that's not overly surprising... So much so, in fact, that I have to put all of your former ratings into question. (I've only watched 5 minutes of the Fast & Furious franchise, but maybe you're wrong about them, and I'm missing out!)

D-Money
...what? Tracy Morgan is the only thing that keeps this show from being god-tier. Definitely agreed. One of the best TV comedies of all time. Jack: Look how Greenzo's testing! They love him in every demographic: colored people, broads, fairies, commies... ...Gosh, we gotta update these forms. Monty
The only episode of 30 Rock I found even remotely funny was when Michael Scheen guest starred as "Wesley Snipes". Otherwise, like many, many other shows, it should have followed the BBC model and quit while they were ahead; which was after 3 episodes.
