Down by the River
Freaks and Geeks Ep. 1: 9/10 I'm not sure how to describe without sounding patronizing, but its kind of a sweet show.

MJDDawg
Sicario. Rented it on Shaw on Demand. Tense from the opening scene to the last scene. Had no expectations but loved it.
Down by the River
So I'm now maybe halfway through Freaks and Geeks and the fact that it was cancelled, and the fact that it was cancelled because the characters did not 'win' enough, is outrageous. The worst part of the show is easily Seth Rogen, which I was surprised by since everyone seemed to refer to him as 'the guy from Freaks and Geeks' when he started to get movie roles. I've had trouble putting it into words, but I like how the show puts it's characters into classic cliches, but then does something a bit unexpected with them; showing that the cliche/trope doesn't always perfectly fit. The scene with the gym teacher and the main Geek in the teacher's office, for example.
g_bassi13
The Brothers Grimsby - 5/10 It was fairly funny when it was being stupid, but not at all so when it was being crude. And being crude was far too big a part of this movie.
g_bassi13
The Peanuts Movie - 5.5/10 Felt like it was only aesthetically and superficially a Charlie Brown movie, or at least did particularly at the beginning of it. The mood felt like it was shifting every few minutes, and despite it having a very obvious and definedoverarching story, each of these parts felt disconnected from the one before and after it. And despite having an hour and a half in a feature length story, they didn't even begin to explore any of the characters besides Charlie Brown. They get screen time, but they're all just one liners and one offs. And despite that previous thought, somehow Snoopy also received too much screen time. His Red Baron thing did nothing to advance or tie together anything. Just seemed like an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of his appearance to please viewers. Or use his face to merchandise toys and products afterwards. Or something along those lines.
Blue Jay 22
Strange Brew: 6.5/10 It was a stupid movie, but it was meant to be a stupid movie. It had some awesome quotes in it; the first hockey scene with the brothers had me cracking up. Extra bonus point because from here on out, I have created a mental image in my head of @D-Money and @Monty being similar to Doug and Bob McKenzie.

I'll wait for the video, as I almost always do, but it is good to see a "mainstream action movie" depicting people with disabilities as capable humans. Progress, one step at a time. Kind of like John Travolta in Pulp Fiction. That movie made people forget just how terrible of an actor he really is. You can be in a great movie and be the worst on screen. Affleck isn't a great actor. He's not even good. He's just sort of "there".

Travolta has been good in a few movies, well a very few movies, imo Pulp Fiction - but not Get Shorty The movie where he played the dude with brain cancer, that got smarter because of tumour growth. Robert Duvaal was a co-star-think Forest Whitaker was in it to. And... that's about it.
D-Money
I really liked Get Shorty, but it was the supporting actors (Hackman, Lindo, Farina, Russo, DeVito) that made it. Like Monty said, Travolta was basically just..."there". Of course, it's hard to remember how good Get Shorty was when it was followed by that godawful sequel. But The Rock and Christina Milian were in it. Jeez, I just looked at the rest of the cast to see who else was in that disaster. This was doomed from the start: - Travolta - Vince Vaughn - Uma Thurman - Cedric the Entertainer - Andre Benjamin - a slew of rock star cameos, headlined by Steven Tyler, Gene Simmons, and Fred Durst??????
