Black Mirror:

San Junipero: 4/5 Stars

  Reveal hidden contents

Easily the most beautiful episode in terms of story and visuals. Really cool concept and at least it didn't have another super depressing ending.

I HATED this episode. This was as if they said, "We've got 5 episodes penned and need another one due to contractual obligations. How about we borrow a sh*tty script from the Lifetime Network that they won't even use?"

It (1990): 4/10

First half is good, but obviously (totally) dated. Second half is so dreary, uninteresting, poorly written, and poorly acted--and it literally includes a giant spider beast--that it undoes almost everything that was good about the first half

I actually started this a week ago; but because of the new baby at home, haven't been able to come close to finishing it.

Yeux Sans Visage (Eyes Without a Face)  8/10

Some old french horror movie I decided to watch on youtube after coming home late last night a little wobbly. Frankenstein type theme - mad surgeon experimenting in his basement. Beautifully framed and shot, couple of squirm inducing scenes I won't be able to unsee. Fun!

Hate horror movies. Every year, this thread takes a serious turn for the worse between October 15-Halloween.

Well that's all the encouragement I need. Sorry :)

I've been waiting for a remake of this movie for quite some time. First time I saw it, was because a reviewer mentioned a gratuitous shot of a naked woman in handcuffs.

Was a decent flick 7/10- Has Anne Pappilud(sp)- also was in the original La Femme Nakita.

Better Call Saul, Also Mike While We're At It - season 2 - 7.5/10

It kinda feels like two different shows that happen to take place in the same city now. Saul with his law story and Mike doing the Breaking Bad prequel (to be fair I thought his character was the high point of s.1). I really thought they'd tie them back together by the end. Also, while I appreciate the artistic choices of the long shots and montage scenes, eventually it becomes filler of sorts. For ~46 minute content not a ton would happen most episodes.

But, complaints aside, still enjoying it moment to moment, episode to episode. Odenkirk appears to have gained a bit of confidence in his acting Both stories are worth following. And they tightened up the plotting compared to s.1 - I really didn't like the turn it took in the finale.

At least not getting around to watching it so long means I don't have to wait a year to continue.

I just finished the novel and thought the same thing. It started out pretty strong but when it got into the actual back story of "It" and it's history, it just spiraled from there. The last 1/3 of the book complete dissolved any fear factor it previously had going on.

It really is two completely different shows in one, with Mike and Saul.

That said, Vince Gilligan created such amazing characters in Breaking Bad, that the fact that he's telling the story of two characters right now is fine by me.

Because my mother in-law has been over for the past two weeks, very limited to what I can watch. Been able to sneak in Black Mirror in the bedroom, though.

So, after years of watching horror/terrible horror films over the past several years, because my mother in-law is over, yesterday I watched (for the second time):

Captain Phillips

It's good. But I really didn't want to watch it again.
