Told you.

Pass.

Haha ya this film "gun woman" is not for the squeemish at all it did not give the warm n fuzzies in the slightest. I was thinking it would be a decent background japanese gunslinger girl type popcorn action flick I could breeze in and out of the room while folding laundry and other chores. It wasn't that at all. Not one bit.

The Invitation: 8/10

A slow burn thriller, my favorite type of movie. Can't really say anything about it because its very spoiler-heavy, but if you've seen the movie Coherence, it has a similar vibe (not as good as Coherence IMO).

I watched about half of this 2 months ago. Need to finish it. Was very disturbing.

I don't post here often, but I do pop in frequently...

Just wanted to say glad I'm not the only one who thought Sausage party was horrible... it's been a while since I've turned off a movie before it was finished

I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore   8/10

Man, Netflix must really be throwing around the cash if they've got the Sundance Grand Jury winner a month later, but I'm not complaining, thought I'd have to wait longer for this. The directing debut of Macon Blair, who starred in both of Jeremy Saulnier's movies. It's got a very similar style - everyday oddball characters who stumble into bigger, more violent territory - but is a little more uneven and slants towards the slapstick comedy side of the spectrum. I say uneven in that the first half is more or less straight forward hapless buddy comedy, then it explodes into a Coen Bros violent crime gone awry second half. Didn't like it as much as Blue Ruin or Green Room, but still look forward to more from him. Does have one of the best minor twists right at the end there though. Made me spit out a mouthful of beer and cheer.

Watched this about a week ago. Was a lot of fun. From all the great things in it, nothing made me happier than seeing Melanie Lynskey finally starting to get consistent lead/supporting roles.

Forever the afterthought, most known for being "the other girl who's not Kate Winslet" in Heavenly Creatures, she's finally getting the opportunity to show what she can do in more leading or co-lead roles. Her recent role in The Intervention and in the one above, is great for her.

Haha, was that when we had that conversation about my wife crying through even kids movies?

Yup.

Parenthood yo. That $@#% will wreck you.

FWIW, after having kids, my wife now cries in almost EVERY movie  You should have seen her in the Kung Fu Panda 2 - Po's Childhood scene when we watched it with our kids...

Yeah she just sort of seemed vaguely familiar. Looking at her IMDB credits I think it must just be from small roles on tv shows like Key and Peele & Always Sunny in Philly.

Harvey (1950) - 8/10

James Stewart comedy/drama film about a man who sees and talks to a 6'8" rabbit.

Stewart is awesome. So anytime you get an opportunity to watch him (it's on Netflix), then it's always a win.

----------

Crimson Tide - 5.5/10

Gene Hackman is terrific. 'Natch. Otherwise, it's a pass.

I need to re-acquire me some classic Stewart (and Hitchcock for that matter). Used to have most of their stuff way back when on VHS and a large portion of it on DVD...

It's a very inventive film. Very quirky and genre blending. I guess it works? Has anyone else seen this?

Is that the actress that played Rose in "Two and a half Men"?
