Master Mind
Just saw X-men Apocalypse. If you want a good comedy - and by that I mean laughing at how awful the movie is - then this is for you. Poor writing, full of plot holes and head scratching moments. Combined with a weak looking and sounding villain. It made Spiderman 3 feel like a masterpiece. Edited March 11, 2017 by Master Mind
The Bookie
Bone Tomahawk, second watch - I think this is legitimately a solid movie. Its reputation for the grisly death scenes kind of overshadows it and I was definitely primed for/distracted by that on the first watch. But really the first 2/3 are a quiet and methodical character driven adventure story, like a campy dime novel perfectly realised. The actors are having a feast. In particular Richard Jenkins as the rambling sidekick who slowly morphs into the wise sage and moral compass. Went back and looked at the best supporting actor noms from the 2015 Oscars - JK Simmons won for Whiplash and I think that was deserved, but Jenkins could match any of the others here. think I gave it 8 or 8.5, bump it to 9 -- I am partial to Horror-Western crossovers tho Edited March 11, 2017 by The Bookie
Angry Goose
John Wick 2 - obnoxious goofy but fun 6.5/10 Kong - obnoxiously goofy but fun 6.5 On a TV related note, has anyone watched Terrace House? Hugor Hill
TV series Homeland season 6 - 8.5/10 Great thriller overall. Just not great enough for repeat viewings, for whatever reason.

Every season since is a new story. Reinventing itself. This season though, it feels like the well is running dry. I won't spoil.

It did feel like they dragged the Brodie stuff too long (one season too long), but I get it. Damien Lewis is a solid actor. But yeah, couldn't get into season 4. But 5 minutes into season 4 isn't really giving it a fair shot.

It takes work to win over fans. Executives would rather drag a dead show on and on like TWD because it makes money reliably. Your reaction is not atypical. Nucker 67
Kong 7.5/10 The visuals were great, the soundtrack was great (Black Sabbath, etc), slow motion camera work was very cool in 3D, explosions, zero love scenes, weird freaky monsters, greats battle scenes. (some grisly deaths), and John C. Reilly was good, a few laughs. Would've given it a 8 if it weren't for Sam Jackson. I found him particularly annoying in this one. g_bassi13
Tried watching the first episode of the show Bellevue on CBC. It was just one episode, but it was so awkwardly and poorly done. It's a show about a missing kid, but it's all over the place in its focus. I barely know what's going on at any given moment, and even less about the whole story overall. It's a similar premise to the mini-series Cardinal that just finished airing a week or two ago, but where that was incredibly well done, this is the opposite in terms of execution. I think CBC and the show's producers had the same influences and motivation as CTV and Cardinal to put out what should ultimately have been a really similar show, but they missed so hard that I can't see myself bothering with the second episode.
