The nonpartyer in me saw it as a comedy.

The finance guy in me was really pissed off.

Yeah. I didn’t feel bad for anyone involved.

Those working for him and funding him should have seen the warning signs. The first being that you’re putting on a music festival for the first time, and you thought “Hey, you know what’s easy, housing thousands of people in a luxurious way. We should do that and book musical acts on a remote island, and then try and do it in less than a year.”

As for those “kids” who ponied up the dough? Serves them right.

I felt bad for the workers in Bahamas. Especially the restaurant owner. Until seeing her late interview I was laughing my ass off.

Pledge (2018) - 5.5/10

Low budget, B-Grade slasher/thriller. Group of outcasts 'pledge' an exclusive fraternity after being rejected by popular fraternities. Fairly predictable movie with some really bad acting...kept me entertained enough, short run-time of just over an hour.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

There are few times when a movie makes me feel nothing when I’m watching it. Not bored, just an empty feeling. This was one of those times. I didn’t feel anything towards any of the characters, because they weren’t written, nor was the story, for you to care about them. Everyone was just on autopilot.

You know that feeling when you’re waiting in line at the bank and there’s maybe 2 people ahead of you? Not enough to get impatient because you’ll get called up soon, but you just feel kind of “meh”? That’s this movie.

Thank goodness it’s on Netflix. Then I really would have been angry after watching it if I had actually paid for this.

...but Evangeline Lilly

My wife is easily entertained and really likes superhero movies. You know it’s a bad sign when she falls asleep during one of them. She’s only done that for one other superhero movie. Thor 2.

Velvet Buzzsaw

New film by Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler). Do not go in expecting anything similar to Nightcrawler, though. Also, just because the characters in it are part of the art community and it takes place largely in galleries, this isn't a movie to overthink. Pretentious art setting or not, this is a straight up slasher/horror/thriller movie. Like the fun "killer of the week" ones. It isn't great, but if you sit back and take it for what it is, like you would any other slasher movie, then you'll see the fun in it.

Big Love Story - 4/10

Low-budget rom-com on Prime, about a college football player that blew out his knee, and then just gained weight until he was enormous, and connects with his personal trainer as he tries to get in shape. It had decent reviews on IMDB, but both my wife and I thought it was dumb. There's the occasional funny part, but mostly it's just poorly written and poorly acted.

bill murray stories - 3/10. the entire movie could be summarized in a 2 minute clip they play from Murray himself - instead, they drag it out just over an hour where fratboys and other bland people talk about thinly veiled celebrity worship

best of enemies (2015) - 9/10. doc about William F Buckley Jr and Gore Vidal's debates on national tv. seriously engaging movie. funny, thought provoking, super relevant to our time. already feel like watching it again, tbh

Velvet Buzzsaw 8/10

Solid performances across the board anchor a ghost story/slasher flick. The best part is everyone who dies is a character most would love to see dead.

The Catcher Was A Spy 6.5/10

Paul Rudd does a good job proving he can do (slightly) more than just make you laugh. Some mild pacing issues, and its certainly not the most thrilling of spy/war flicks. It's not bad, it's not great, it just is.

Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened - 7/10

The Netflix one. Solid documentary about something I had limited knowledge of. I mean...I was pretty sure that Ja Rule was a moron, but didn't have actual evidence until now.

Ja Rule: “It’s not fraud. It’s false advertisement!”
