Side note...but I cried like a little school girl at the end of it

I was on the plane back from India, absolutely losing it. Thankfully, everyone was asleep, as was my boss beside me.

The Shape of Water - 8/10

Finally got around to seeing this. Great movie, once you get past the bestiality.

Haven’t watched it, yet. Will get around to it when I’m in the mood to watch some hot “woman on fish” action.

Seriously, a blubbering, sobbing mess.

I was like a premenstrual, recently dumped, late 30-something woman watching a Hallmark made for TV movie by the end.

Which movie are we talking about here?

Bohemian Rhapsody - Rami Malek's performance 9/10 - Script 4/10

Watch for his stellar performance and the tunes, the script is very superficial and doesn't do Rami or Mercury, justice. They both deserved better IMO.

Was glad Malek won the Oscar. Thought that he might not because of the awful script that hung over his head. People seemed to have a difficult time separating the two).

His performance was SERIOUSLY good. So much so that IMO, it's worth watching the film for it alone despite the otherwise sup par script. What could have been with a better script......<_<

The toe tapping tunes help as well.

I watched roughly the first 15 minutes and turned it off.

“Remember Queen? Remember their songs? Because, remember?”

Molly's Game.  8, 8.5.

Interesting, based on a true story.  enjoyed the acting, Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba.  Insight into high stakes gambling without getting bogged down into the players or the hands.

She's led quite the life.

Did they even get to any Queen songs 15 minutes in?

Yeah that script is certainly no achievement.

You Were Never Really Here

Joaquin Phoenix has really shown throughout the years that he’s one of the most talented actors around. Guy really has range.

Rough thriller movie about a hired gun who finds young girls who have been used for trafficking and “making them boys pay.” Phoenix’s character is more than just your usual anti-hero, though, as he has his own trauma as a child and from his time in the military, which is barely shown in flashbacks, and mostly seen as the toll it has taken on him as an adult.

Great movie.

Finding out his older brother died hurt me for like a week. You could tell his older brother cared a lot for him.

Might want to actually add spoiler tags to that...

Actually, I saw it differently...

Spoiler

To me it was bittersweet, as one of the most potentially heartbreaking parts of that story would have been how his brother went on with his life after losing him. They obviously were very close. Saroo himself was haunted by the idea of his brother searching the train station for him. Although it was sad to know his brother died, it explained why he was abandoned in the first place, and erased all of the potential pain his brother would have had to endure.

Absolutely. While it certainly was a double shot to the mother, you’re right. Explains why he was abandoned.

Girl on the Train

EmilyBlunt/10

Spoiler

seriously, she needs to be in more movies

Triple Frontier

alittlebitok/10

If you haven't watched don't click the &^@#ing spoiler below

Spoiler

Best part is Ben Affleck dies first. Would have been better if he died sooner. Like in his first scene.

Really like the Oscar, Charlie and Pedro. Too bad they had to share screen time with that Assfleck.

Is it worth watching? I’m starting to get the impression that majority of “made for Netflix” movies are the equivalent to the “straight to video” movies from the 80s and 90s. Bird Box, The Cloverfield Paradox,  Bright, Like Father, Mascots, War Machine, Death Note, Mute.

So, is this any different? Oscar Isaac? Sure. Ben Affleck? Oof.

I wouldn't call it a waste of time. But neither is it anything special. Out of those you listed I have only seen Bird Box. I would give Bird Box a similar rating (not special, not waste of time).
