Monty
Anyone have any horror movies to recommend for Halloween? Depends, do you want a really gory, serious horror film, or a really gory but funny film? If the latter, I suggest Dead Alive or Re-Animator. The 1968 Night of the Living Dead is terrific as well, but not exactly funny. You could go really old school and watch The Bride of Frankenstein. mcgillnuck
Anyone have any horror movies to recommend for Halloween? What kind of stuff do you like? Psychological horror? Body horror? Ghosts n' Stuff? Slashers? Also how do you like 70s/80s and foreign films? A lot of people won't bother with them but there are a lot of gems there. Most of the great horror films are coming from France/Spain/Japan these days.
Monty
Forgot about The Orphanage. Terrific Spanish horror film produced by Guillermo del Toro. An absolute must see. So good. You will not regret watching it. I bought it before watching it, purely on word of mouth. The only other movie I ever did that for before was 28 Days Later. Hands down my favourite non gory horror film.
Tangelos
Anyone have any horror movies to recommend for Halloween? Not much of a horror guy, but the ones that stuck with me were: Cabin in the woods Dawn of the Dead (re-make) (something about zombies that run scare the crap outta me) 28 days later (see above) The Others (more of a mystery suspense, but still very good) Insidious (scared me sh!tless) Stephen king adaptations: Misery The Mist The shining

Down by the River
Chris Hadfield ejected from movie theatre for loudly heckling Gravity Written by Ian MacIntyreTuesday, 29 October 2013 15:58 Eyewitnesses reported that during last night’s 9:15pm Real3D screening of Gravity, a lone man (later identified as retired ISS Commander Chris Hadfield) began muttering under his breath and chuckling to himself. By the 30-minute mark, Hadfield reportedly made numerous rude comments such as, “Nice Soyuz procedure, Hollywood!” and “Oh yeah, because that’s what hypoxia as caused by rapid cabin decompression looks like you idiots!.” “It was the damndest thing,” recounted Isabelle Tremblay. “My boyfriend and I were like, ‘what a jerk’, and he went back to talk to him. But then he came back to our seats and he was like ‘I’m pretty sure that was that astronaut guy. You know, from the news.’ So we just let him go. I mean, what do you do? An astronaut probably gets George Clooney’s character struggles a little better than I do.” Hadfield’s alleged berating of the film continued unabated. During one crucial and deathly silent scene involving Sandra Bullock’s character’s desperate attempt to reach her vessel and avoid dying in the void of space, the man who brought honour and fun to Canadian space exploration let out a long, piercing, and altogether perfect fart. Eventually, theatre staff was notified, and the Canadian living legend was loudly removed from the cinema. Witnesses report that he did not go quietly. One patron recalled, “The last thing I heard him yelling was, ‘Have you been to space? Because I’ve been to space!’” “But he’s still a hero, I suppose.” At press time, Commander Hadfield’s family and friends were really hoping he never finds out about the 1996 horror classic: Leprechaun In Space. http://www.thebeaver...ing-gravity.htm satire Edited October 30, 2013 by Down by the River
D-Money
White House Down - 8/10. I watched it about a month afterI saw Olympus Has Fallen, and I thought that while the action was pretty similar in each movie, the plot line was better within WHD. You mean the plot line in WHD was better than a giant, steaming, pile of crap? Olympus Has Fallen was soooo bad, it totally turned me off watching the other. Monty
You mean the plot line in WHD was better than a giant, steaming, pile of crap? Olympus Has Fallen was soooo bad, it totally turned me off watching the other. I don't make a habit of going to the theatre to intentionally watch a bad film, but back in March, my wife and I had the week off work and took a stay-cation. We stayed the night in a hotel in Winnipeg and thought, "Well, since we're out, we may as well see a movie. Since it was March, that meant that nothing good was in the theatre, so Olympus Has Fallen won by default. What a turd of a movie. It may as well have been Die Hard with Gerard Butler. But not Die Hard or Die Hard with a Vengeance, more like whatever the last two were Bruce Willis crapfests were called. So in closing, to say White House Down had a better plotline then Olympus Has Fallen isn't saying much.
Spoderman
Serenity: 8.5/10 Shouldn't have been a movie, but it was good enough for me. Cast returns, good visuals, and fun action. Joss Whedon concludes Firefly with a satisfying ending. frack you Fox RIP Wash :[

Raoul Duke
The Conjuring - 4/10 Honestly do not understand the praise for this film. Went in with such high expectations. Not scary at all. I do like Vera Farmiga though. Agreed. Typical recycled horror film garbage. A scary doll? Check. A ghost only a child can see? Check. Another exocism? Check. Zzzzzzzz My budy and I were kinda half-cut, but we were basically laughing at it fifteen minutes in til the ending.

Bruce Boudreau
This is the End 6.5/10 Pretty amusing, seemed like all of the cast was part of the James Franco roast. So weird, I just saw it like 2 days ago literally! 6/10 It was okay. Some of the jokes were overdone and repetitive depends on your sense of humor. Some of the gay jokes about Franco just seemed to all come back to the roast and all that.
Lychees
Contagion - 9.5/10 Busted it out for Halloween movie time with buddies and DAMN, the thought that something like that could potentially happen is scary. Monty
The Frighteners - 8/10 Been watching horror movies for the entire month of October, but was watching them all by myself because my wife does not like the majority of horror films. Decided to watch The Frighteners, as it is still a halloween film, but definitely more tongue and cheek and easier to take than most horror films. So much fun. Hadn't seen it in about 15 years and was not surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Liked it back in 1996 when I first saw it and watched it quite a few times as a teenager. Peter Jackson's last horror film, so it was nice to see him go out in top form. Best part of the film? Jake Busey.
NightHawkSniper
The Hunger Games 8.5/10 Never read the book so I'll have to get on that, but I must say I rather enjoyed watching this not knowing what would happen next.
