I still don't understand why people think it's one of the all time greats. Aside from that one long tracking shot into the restaurant, there's not much I see in the movie.

phenomenal acting?

one of the best scripts ever written? endlessly quotable?

i don't like the last 30-40 minutes of the movie at all, but the first 80 mins are probably my favourite of any movie, ever

Alright, now I finally feel comfortable enough to share my true feelings about Goodfellas. For the most part, I like Scorsese's films; but I have never liked Goodfellas; and I've seen it probably 4 times. I've given it more then enough chances, and it just isn't my cup of tea. Now, to be fair, I also don't like gangster films/shows all that much either. The only one I think I've liked is Boardwalk Empire. Never cared for The Sopranos.

The last ~1/3 is certainly uncomfortable to watch for the most part. I wouldn't say I don't like it though. The first ~2/3 almost has a quaint "fairy tale" feel (if you can equate mobsters and fairy tales...). Whereas the finale starts to show that imagined veneer stripped away in to the much grittier and starker focus that the reality of living that lifestyle is more likely to end in.

As you mentioned though the acting, writing, quotable lines etc are simply fantastic.

It and Usual Suspects are probably my two favourite organized crime movies.

Second that.

I understand why Goodfellas is a good movie, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed watching it. Same with Sopranos - watched a couple of episodes...simply didn't care.

The Bling Ring- Crap/10

Honestly a horrendous movie. I thought it would be a decent flick since the story is interesting and is based on actual events, but this was one of the worst movies of the year. Half way through the movie I was looking forward to the court room scene, but they just skipped it.

Don't watch this garbage film.

I just threw up.

I personally liked Casino over Goodfellas. Both great movies IMO, Casino just did it for me!

Some people just don't like gangster films/shows all that much; that's probably why I don't like Goodfellas, as I've certainly seen it enough times to give it a fair shot.

There's the problem.

I usually give a series a bit longer. I can't watch two episodes of something and just dismiss it like that.

Loved Goodfellas. I especially like to review it and see where some of the actors have gone in their careers.

Did you know that "Spider" the bartender who screws up Tommy's drink order and gets shot in the foot, (and later killed for telling Tommy to frack himself) is Michael Imperioli, Christopher from the Sopranos?

There's AT LEAST 4 or 5 major characters from Goodfellas playing major roles in The Sopranos, it's kind of funny.

To defend D-Money, why would you continue to watch something that you really have no interest in? Who knows, maybe he likes gangster shows/films. For myself, it really isn't my cup of tea. I actually watched the first 4 seasons of The Soprano's, but I just lost interest; I believe it was after the "Interior Decorator" episode with the Russian in the woods, which was fantastic). However, I just didn't feel like finishing it.
