[Discussion] Roberto Luongo Trade Thread 4.0

wow, some on here are sure cocky considering we got turfed from last years playoffs in game 5 of the first round yet we are still arrogant enough to slam the Leafs!!?? We got ejected with the likes of Luongo, Schneider, Kessler, and the Sedins, our best players. We have nothing to crow about here especially now that we are about to throw the best goalie we've ever had under the bus. Be forewarned, Schneider is already starting to crack under the pressure??!! Luongo will be a Leaf by days end and then who will be our backup!!??........

Clemmenson said last week that you couldn't bring both goalies to camp. I didn't know if he was right or not.

But, after watching last night's game I get a sense that he might have been.

Pressure is a funny thing. Schneider looked awesome when all the pressure was on Luongo. Now that Cory's been annointed #1 by the media and, by all appearances, management too, he looks to be a bit shaky.

Luongo on the other hand has no pressure, he's just going about his business. And he looks like a stud.

Small things, like who stopped how many shooters in a scrimmage shootout, get blown out of proportion.

I am a huge Luongo fan, and a huge Schneider fan too. But this is not good for the kid. If we keep Luongo through the weekend and they both play one game, there will be so much fodder for the media that this already giant issue could absolutely become a huge problem.

Of course the report that Cory is prone to panic attacks is worrying as well. The pressure only gets greater from here.

Gillis should have made his choice a year ago, or even two. If he moved Schneider at the deadline, he might have had some players to help in the playoffs.

If he was going to move Luongo, he should have done it. Schneider deserved the chance to come to camp and not have every little move viewed under a microscope because the guy at the other end is still an AWESOME goalie, a gold medal winner, and is feeling no pressure.

Get it done Gillis. Or in two weeks we'll be talking about moving Schneider instead. Come to think of it, that's not such a bad idea.

See!

How did Luongo get thrown under the bus? He got outplayed by a younger better goalie, and lost his starting position. That's the nature of sports in case you didn't know.

And as for losing to the Kings. They got hot and went on one of the most dominant runs in playoff history. They were better than us that year. No shame in losing to a team that was that good.

As for Luongo being a Leaf. I don't see it happening. Not with the moves Toronto made today. They're going into full rebuild it would seem.

Luongo got outplayed by a younger goalie?? Ha, what a laugh. Schneider won one game and that was a mere fluke. The whole team got outplayed, not just Luongo by a much tougher LA Kings team. Pretty sad to have to sit out a goalie you are paying 65 million dollars to!! No wonder he wants to be traded!!

The Kings were better then the Nucks?? The Nucks were supposed to be the presidents trophy winners again last year with the most goals in the West conf and LA just made it into the playoffs!! The Nucks never showed up for the playoffs if the truth be known!! Last years dismal failure was a team effort and not just Bobby Lu. No wonder he wants to be traded!!!

With the moves the Laffs made today??? They got rid of salary and opened up more cap space, something we should do with tea cups like Kessler and Booth!! Now not only do the have lots of cap room for Lu's over-inflated contract but roster space for their younger players. If we do lose him we will never replace him especially when Schneider's luck runs out!!! No wonder Lu wants to be traded.

Id do a deal like this in a heart beat but I am getting the feeling that Gillis does not want to take salary back.

He should because no one is ripping their clothes off to take Luongo and getting Dipietro back in a deal is a way to maximize our return for luongo.

NYI has very little to give though that could help us now- I think they are going to continue to tank.

They have

Tavares

Okposo

Nielsen

Moulson

Strome

Nino

Bailey

Hamonic

Reinhart

the players that would help us now are

Tavares

Hamonic

Okposo

Moulson

Nielsen

because they have so little I think they pass on Lou and just continue to tank
