Will the Red Wings make the playoffs after losing Lidstrom and Holmstrom?

A simple yes or no question. After losing Nicklas Lidstrom and Tomas Holmstrom to retirement, will the Red Wings still make the playoffs?

I think they will, they still have some great depth up front. They acquired Tootoo & Samuelsson as well this off-season. They have Howard in net but their D doesn't look that great at all.

Stuart and Hudler left as well, so no. They havent gotten people to fill in those spots. Well sure they can fill in, but they wont carry the team like the guys they lost.

Holmstrom wasn't a major contributor last year, so his absence won't cause much of an issue for their offence.

And even without Lidstrom: Kronwall, Quincey, Colaiacovo, Smith, Ericsson, and White isn't a bad D core. Not great, but not bad.

I'd be surprised if they were any worse than 6th in the conference.

Defence is looking thin, all they did was add Tootoo upfront, and he's not your typical Red Wings type of player cause he's physical. I think theyll squeak in though

Yeah there coaching is too good for them not too, and Howard is very underrated.

Smith has only gotten better and should be able to fill the spot left by Stuart.
